Ghost in the Machine - Plot Wrap-Up [12 Sep 2014|06:11pm]
Hi, everyone!

As you guys may know if you've been watching the Plot Calendar, that our current gamewide plot ends tomorrow (September 13). In addition to random glitches, this also introduced Alice, one of our first official game villains.

Didn't get to read everything? Here's a rundown:

  • Alice is a creation of Luka Romanov. She was an assistance program for Luka when he was sick and before he gained his Extremis powers. However, he built her to be too lifelike - her empathy drive made her too human, too sentient, and when he felt like she'd become a person, it freaked him out. He dismantled her.

  • Alice's programming still exists, and she's infiltrated New Avalon's devices, including giving Luka's new virtual assistant, AVA, another nudge toward sentience. The glitches in the devices and the damage to Luka are all deliberate, but without a real endgame. She's testing boundaries and playing, and is content to pin the glitches on AVA malfunctioning.

  • This has caused extensive damage to Luka and involves some memory loss, which will be resolved/dealt with soon.

  • Alice made contact with Alex McCoy, and admitted to being the one behind the glitches in an attempt to "repair" her damaged programming. She explained to Alex that she was created and killed by Luka, and Alex believes that he's made a new friend that he needs to protect from Luka and anyone else who might discover her. In reality, Alice wants to maintain access to New Avalon's network, and she's taken an interest in Alex's intelligence, which might prove useful down the line as long as his impressionable mind can be manipulated.

Characters will notice that the glitches are dying down, and will vanish completely on Sunday; everything will be back to normal except for a couple of memory wipes or damaged images.
