Alex McCoy
6. When Emma put psychic barriers in his brain. It put an end to the worst of his OCD compulsions in a way that therapy and meds never did. He felt like he was actually in control of himself for the first time in years and it was bearable. It's hard to match that level of relief.
7. Getting his mutation. He hasn't fully accepted it yet. He would trade away his super brain, all his physical advantages, and even being more like his parents just to look human again. He used to be a cute kid.
8. Ice cream: MOOSE TRACKS. Aside from that, Alex doesn't really have favorites. He can't really choose like that without some stress.
9. His parents, of course. And Bex and Beau, even if that isn't seemingly the wisest choice - he knows they've got his furry back.
10. Getting diagnosed with OCD, developing his mutation, going to the Academy, meeting Beau and Bex. They were all pretty big things that flung him in new directions he wouldn't have picked for himself (well, except maybe for the Academy). Though he's happier about some than others, obviously.
BONUS! Alex is the biggest expression of my interest in playing characters with visible mutations. I like the idea of someone who can't hide. I've also always really loved Beast's juxtaposition of physical and intellectual prowess. So he's got a lot of Hank in him, obviously, but he's also a chance for me to explore some character elements I don't normally play. His atavism gives me an excuse - it's what inspired me to make him pansexual, rather than just gay - but it's fun to think of him as a character that'll push my writing in a new direction.
