I just posted this recipe to my journal and thought it would be of interest since autumn is a time for nicely spiced apple things. :)

I wish I had had some fresh soft cider for this, but I don't live near an orchard any longer. :(

This is for a 6 quart ice cream maker, if you want amounts for 2, 4, or 5 quarts let me know and I'll add those.

6 c apple cider or juice (one can of concentrate and water to make 6 cups)
3 c sugar
1 tsp ground cloves (originally, 1¹/₂ tsp whole cloves)
1 Tbsp ground cinnamon (originally 6 sticks)
6 c unsweetened applesauce (one 50 oz jar)
3 c cranberry juice (half of a can of concentrate and water to make 3 cups)
¹/₃ c lemon juice

Dissolve sugar in apple juice/cider, add spices and boil for 5 minutes. Remove whole spices. Add remaining ingredients and chill for at least one hour.

Freeze according to your machine's instructions.

Note, have containers that can hold about one gallon plus two cups handy for chilling the mix unless you are fortunate enough to have a fridge that can handle either the pot you mixed it in or your ice cream maker's canister. (I used a gallon jug and the empty applesauce jar.)

4 quarts 4 c 2 c 1 tsp 4 4 c 2 c 1/4 c

5 quarts 5 c 21/2 c 11/4 tsp 5 5 c 21/2 c 1/4 c + 1 Tbsp

Apple Cider or Juice Sugar Whole Cloves (or 3/4 tsp ground per tsp whole) Whole Cinnamon Sticks (or 1/2 tsp ground for each stick) Applesauce (unsweetened) Cranberry Juice Lemon Juice

I thought I'd share one of my favorite fall recipes, Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies.

I start making these toward the end of October, and through November and December - friends start asking about them toward the end of September, all "You are making them this year, right??" *g*

Starbucks has their pumpkin spiced latte and olive garden has their pumpkin cheese cake! This is one of my most favorite parts of fall.

I've created some 1024x768 wallpapers in the spirit of autumn, using textures, photos and old lithographs from Clipart.com. If you're using an 800x600 screen resolution, just use "Stretch" and they'll fit just fine. If you're using widescreen, well, you'll just have to settle. :-)

ch_photoshopped on LiveJournal went and did a bunch of icons, several of them autumn-themed and even animated. He does lovely work.

I found this while rummaging around on DA for something else entirely, thought I'd share. Obviously, it's not my work. Blue-eyed supernatural-looking horses in an autumn setting.
