Caroline, Jill could deal with. Didn't mean it was safe, or easy, or anything positive. What it did mean was that Caroline was a known quantity. She didn't have to go into the conversation wondering exactly where they both stood.
And anymore, that was more important than anything.
"She's somewhere." Jill shrugged. She didn't need Angeline as much as people always thought she did, hadn't needed her that much in a long time. She'd learned how to fight, how to use weapons, how to focus her magic in a much more lethal way. She might not be able to stand up to everyone, but she'd take people down trying if necessary.
