African Film Festival: 'The Forgotten Man' and 'A Love During the War'
Sunday, February 17 | 5:30 p.m. |
One of the emerging voices of feminist African filmmaking, the Cameroonian director Osvalde Lewat-Hallade forges direct cinema with activist power. Her film, "The Forgotten Man" casts an insightful eye on the vagaries of the Cameroon justice system, here presenting the true case of a man sentenced to four years in jail who, through judicial neglect and incompetence, remains incarcerated thirty-three years later. The second film, "A Love During the War," tackles the subject of rape as a weapon of war in the Congo, following the committed journalist Aziza as she seeks out those affected.

The campaign is designed to increase awareness and reduce the risk of stroke, particularly in the African American community. We would love for your organization to participate in our event! Free food and entertainment will be provided after the walk, as well as an appearance by a special guest speaker. Registration is $5 per person. Again, all proceeds will be donated to the American Heart Association, so your money will be put toward a worthy cause! The event will be a fun way to give back to the community and a great experience for everyone involved. For registration forms or more information, please contact BSU and SGA.
