Potterwatch!
Who: Lee Jordan, Open to any Order Members who'd like to do segments!
What: Potterwatch!
When: Wednesday, the 12th, evening.
Where: A nameless semi-secure location.
Rating: T.B.A.
It had taken a few weeks to manage to set up for another edition of Potterwatch, after the first two locations had proved to be too close to Death Eater patrols, and they'd had to pull up stakes and try again.
Tonight though, Lee was determined. They were going to get THROUGH the bloody broadcast, and that was that. If someone wanted to come by and try to haul them away and arrest them for it, they could do it when they were finished.
"Oi, okay, ready?" Lee asked, when he'd gotten the charms set and the equipment ready. When the Order members set to do segments agreed, Lee took a deep breath and switched on the broadcast.
"Hello, and welcome to another Potterwatch broadcast! I'm your friendly and dauntingly handsome host River, and tonight we'll be bringing you our regular update on the man-with-the-lightning-scar, much as we can. We'll also be hearing from a few new regulars on the goings-on at the Ministry, and talk about some safety tips for you folks who feel less than safe, or are on the run."
"First up though, we're introducing a new segment on Potter-sympathizers coming into trouble. It's no secret that a lot of Potter-supporters come from Hogwarts, where Harry should rightly be still learning his wand-wiggling and prepping for NEWTs with the rest of the seventh-year schlubs. Hogwarts, like the Ministry, is increasingly under the thumb of supporters of You-Know-Who though, and more than a few students didn't make it back for their last year, and a couple more are reported as not coming off the train after holiday break. Muggleborn Dean Thomas is reportedly on the run with a few other muggleborns, including Ted Tonks, who is older and wiser and hopefully keeping them out of trouble. If you're listening mates, then we're on the lookout for you to try to help if we can. So don't hex first and ask questions later, yeah?"
"Our sources back at Hogwarts, enterprising little squirts that they are, have let us know that Luna Lovegood, daughter of longtime Potter supporter Xenophilius Lovegood, the man behind the brilliance that is the Quibbler - which is bloody underrated, that article on potions to increase pheromones changed my life, or would have, if I ever dated. But yes, Luna didn't make it back to school. So Luna if you can hear, and you're not off hunting some elusive invisible animal, we're all pulling for you to kick it to the man. The Man being the Head Honcho of Evil, himself, he who can't be named."
"Speaking of which, this is your official Potterwatch Heads Up - the rumored Taboo on the V-word has gone through, so watch what you said. Potterwatch is taking suggestions for official replacements. So far Rodent and Ratface have suggest VileStench, Virginforlife, and Veryugly. We think you can do better. Unfortunately we can't usually get your suggestion, so we suggest sending them by anonymous post-Owl to the Ministry."
Lee glanced at his notes and went on. "And moving on, we're dropping a few safety tips out. Wards are your friend. You might not think your important enough to warrant Death Eaters at your door, but preparing for the worst can help you out anyway. It's not paranoia when everybody's out to get you."
"And inside sources are looking into the truth behind the death of Bathilda Bagshot in Godric's Hollow. So far we don't have the details, but the Death Eater approved story in the Prophet was bollocks. So our condolences to anyone who knew or cared for Ms. Bagshot. We also have a few reports of suspicious muggle deaths that are being reported as accidental, but look pretty bloody non-accidental to us. So we'll be talking more about that next edition, when our password will be Lemon Drop, and we'll hopefully be coming to you from somewhere where we don't have to run out the back door, fleeing for our lives as soon as we're done. Which, if it happens folks, don't worry about me. River will be using Rodent as a human shield, and will definitely survive to talk to you again next time."
Lee flashed a grin at the waiting people, motioning them forward. "And for now, I'm turning it over to our new, soon-to-be regular guests. Stay tuned and I'll be back when they're done, so don't miss me too much."
