Who: Ginny, Neville
What: Setting up for the first D.A. meeting after the break, talking a bit.
When: The day they return to school, late evening.
Where: The Room of Requirement, Hogwarts.
Rating: T.B.D., probably low.
Ginny wasn't sure if she was glad to be back at Hogwarts yet. On the one hand, it meant being away from her mum. Ginny loved Molly, but her mother's worry over Ron and Harry, and everything else going on, tended to manifest in a flurry of mothering love which, while well-meant, left Ginny feeling so stifled she wanted to grab a broom and fly away. (Which she'd actually done more than once, if only for an hour or so at a time.)
But on the other hand, being home at at least meant she caught the fringes of some of the Order talk, when one or another member was about. Her mum still tried to keep her out of it, but Ginny was tenacious and between harping on her dad and overhearing scraps, she usually managed to put together a few things at least. At Hogwarts, they couldn't even really trust owls, so it would mostly be them picking up what they could from Potterwatch.
So it was a bit rubbish either way. At least here though, they could work on the DA and try to get something useful done. It could be daunting though, especially today, since no one had heard a whisper about Luna, as far as Ginny knew, and the other girl wasn't here helping her and Neville, like she would have been before the break. Luna being gone felt almost like a warning shot. Leave the DA be, or you'll be next. That didn't make any sense - Ginny was pretty sure if Luna wasn't here, it had more to do with who her dad was than Dumbledore's Army, but it was still how it felt, nonetheless.
It'd felt strange too even at the start, when they were trying to resurrect the DA. How did you have Dumbledore's Army without Dumbledore? Ginny had decided that it was a mark of respect though, keeping the name. Dumbledore had approved in the end, more or less, and they were fighting for things he'd have believed in. So the DA should STAY the DA.
Or at least that's how she'd worked it out for herself.
Sitting in an almost-empty Room of Requirement with a pile of coins to charm, no Luna, and no real idea of what the rest of the year would bring, though, made the whole thing seem even more grim. Ginny turned a coin over in her hands and looked over at Neville. "You think we should start seeing if the room can put in sleeping bags or bunks or somesuch? Just in case we need to start stashing people here?" she wondered aloud, mostly just for something to say other than what do you think happened to Luna. It wasn't like either of them could answer that.
