Raven didn't know what was so funny. Piotr was actually chuckling? If it was possible for her eyes to narrow anymore at him, they certainly did in that moment. She didn't like that he found what she said funny. Sure she was full of snark, but it wasn't meant as a joke. It was meant to shoot him down.
She crossed her arms but didn't move as he knelt to check if his precious garden was unharmed. "Yet you're doing it."
When he offered her his hand, Raven didn't take it. She was stubborn and it took more than a polite handshake to change her mind. Raven didn't even glance at it. "I am," she said. "You'd be best to remember that the next time you want to play rough with him." Raven was thankful for Alisa and Erik having intervened before Piotr could do any damage. If she had been there, she would have killed Piotr for what he did to her brother. Sometimes she wondered why that wasn't an option for her now. Yet, deep down, she knew Charles would know it was her who did it and again the idea of upsetting him was unbearable.
"Besides that, there's nothing you really need to know about me," said Raven. "I don't go out of my way to 'meet properly' those who have no business being here."
Raven didn't care if Charles had told her to give Piotr a chance. She may follow him, but that didn't mean she had to take orders like that from him. Others may try to do their best to hold their tongue or behave themselves around Piotr to start making him feel 'welcomed' but that wasn't Raven's style. If Piotr wanted Raven to like him and be friends with him, he had to prove he deserved her friendship. And moving between sides and hurting her brother was not a good start to a friendship.
"Can you even give me one good reason to consider getting to know you?" Why was Raven even bothering talking to this guy? Why hadn't she walked away yet. She had gone out of her way to avoid being alone with him, and now here they were. Something made her stay, but Raven couldn't name it. Deep down, if she were honest with herself, she wanted Piotr to give her a good reason. She wanted to see what Charles saw.
