Mike turned his head to he could kiss the cheek not resting on his shoulder. "I get it," he admitted. "We had a rough last year at Hogwarts and then the Final Battle...it was difficult. But it paved the way for better, which, you know, makes it worth it in the end." He smiled a little. "And now, somehow, we're both here enjoying New Year's."
