It probably looked like Alicia wasn’t aware of her surroundings. She was on her back with her eyes closed in one of the many patches of grass near the trees. She looked peaceful. Almost asleep, but she was anything but. Her body was a little bit sore after the two runs in the Ninja Warrior Course. She wasn’t going to admit she was annoyed the Green team beat them.

Quieting her racing mind, she was trying to listen for anything that she could. She could hear the distant chatter of others around. Some woodland animal sounds and the leaves on the trees act as wind chimes in the light breeze. They weren’t speaking, not like the one that had told them what they were doing here, but she was hoping to pick up on something. As she listened, she tried not to let her mind wander to the island she’d been stuck on. This felt so much like that that she didn’t feel as worried as many others did. But that didn’t mean she wasn’t looking for answers, too.

“Peaceful, isn’t it?” She said, hearing footsteps heading towards her. “For a kidnapping, that is.”

"It's one of the nicer prisons I've been in, except for that whole rain thing." It was like Leaf Boy had been conspiring with his therapist or something. "That was a lot." Liam had only managed to calm down after he realised that they were just visions, they weren't going to hurt anyone.

He took a seat beside her on the grass, looking over at her."How's your back?" The ninja warrior course looked intense, Liam thanked his lucky stars that he didn't have to take part in that one. "We had training at the academy but we never had to do anything that intense."

Pushing herself up so she was sitting rather than on her back she winced slightly. "Isn't the first time weather decided to mess with me, probably won't be the last." She admitted.

Shrugging, she sighed. "Shoulder is still sore, but I've been beat up before," Alicia offered. "What? Your training didn't include getting hit by a gigantic foam stick while trying to run over logs?" She laughed softly. "And I thought you lot were well trained."

Liam laughed, at least she was in good spirits. "No see, in the future we get to fly around in a big-ass spaceship and shoot people with lasers." But even now, they didn't get to do it that often. It was all about diplomacy and keeping the peace.

"I am pretty skilled in hand-to-hand combat, that should come in handy for the axe-throwing tomorrow." After the week he had just experienced, he was really looking forward to throwing sharp objects at targets.

“Ah the future isn’t keen on foam sticks,” she laughed.

“Can’t say axe throwing is something I know much about, but hand to hand I can help with.” Alicia had spent years training up and doing her best to know she could take care of herself. “Have you ever thrown an axe?”

"I don't even think I've seen a foam stick before. I was clearly born in the wrong era." His mother had always told him he had an old soul.

Liam nodded. "A few times, they have this thing on Earth called a Renaissance faire; it's all about medieval life; jousting, archery, people playing lutes, axe-throwing. My sister Siobhan is a historian, so we ended up going to that sort of thing a lot."

Alicia looked over at him, studying him for a moment. "I could see that," she admitted. It wasn't a mean sort of judgment, just an honest one.

"Good to hear Renaissance Faires haven't gone out of fashion," she said almost sarcastically until she turned quickly looking at him intently. "Did you dress up for them?"

Liam laughed. "I might not look like the type to but yeah, there are many pictures of me dressed up in medieval attire. The things we do for our family." It was a fun time though.

"What about you? You're one of the magic kids, right?" he doubted they came from a Ren Faire, although he had seen a lot of wizards wandering about during his time there, these ones seemed to be the real deal. "How does that work then?"

"Oh, I really hope those pictures find their way here, I want to see those." Alicia really wanted to see those pictures.

She nodded. "Yeah, we prefer witches or wizards," she teased. Alicia really didn't care. "You are born with magic, usually show some sort of magical as a toddler and you get invited to Hogwarts, or another magical school and train. I suppose it's rather normal with going to a school for skillsets."

Liam shrugged. "Universe seems to be conspiring against me at the moment, they'll probably show up sooner or later." Luckily, Leaftsy hadn't figured out the intricacies of blackmail...yet.

Coming from a background in mechanics, Liam found the idea of magic fascinating. "I guess you're never short of a Halloween costume, huh?" He chuckled. "What do you do after school? Become a witch accountant?"

"Conspiring against you?" Alicia asked, tilting her head curiously.

Laughing, she shook her head. "We didn't really do the whole dress up for Halloween thing, and there was always a feast but no costumes or that sort of thing." Laughing a little harder, she had to take a moment before answering his second question. "Yes, we all grow up to be witch accountants and wear tight buns to show how prim we are," she teased. "No, there are all sorts of things you can do. I'm an Auror, similar to an inspector or intelligence officer."

"I don't know, getting taken away from my crew, being forced to entertain a sentient leaf, the things I saw in the storm, it's starting to feel like a punishment." His hallucinations had really gotten to him, Liam had thought he had gotten past that.

"So you're a magic cop then?" Sounded neat. "Do a lot of people have magic?" Being from the future, he would have thought the discovery of such things would be well documented but he had no knowledge of it.

Frowning, she understood the storm. That'd been hard. "Hey," Alicia said, putting a hand on his shoulder. "I think that got a lot of us, but it's going to be alright, we'll get out of this. I've been stuck in worse situations than this and got out mostly without many scars." She paused. "If you want to talk about it, I've got ears. They work."

She dropped her hand and nodded. "Something like that, yeah, I chase wizards who break the law," it was true, and it was fun. "Um, there is a good number of us, but not nearly as many as muggles," she paused. "People without magic."

"You're very positive," Liam commented he had to wonder what other kinds of situations she had been in that were worse than their current one. "My scars are more permanent." He frowned, then gave her a curious look. "Couldn't you just magic yours away? Or doesn't it work like that?"

The term Muggle was quite an interesting one. "That is the least threatening thing I've ever heard people described as." It brought a smile to his face.

Alicia burst out laughing, but it was a sarcastic laugh. "I wish, no, we can't just magic away our problems or even some of our scars, but sometimes I wish we could." She admitted. Alicia had some really nasty physical scars from torture. "As for being positive, what the hell else am I going to do? Let every time I'm kidnapped to play games in a place I can't escape cripple me?"

Alicia smiled softly. "There are some in my world that look down on muggles. My Mum was a muggleborn, so half my family is muggle and we're not all that different in the end."

Liam grinned. "You really do remind me of my sister, she was always the one to talk me down off ledges." Both real and metaphorical.

"That sounds rough." But he supposed prejudice existed in all parts of the galaxy. "Can you show me some magic?" He knew that it was restricted here somewhat because of Leaftsy's interference but there must be something she could do.

"When was the last time you talked to your sister?" She asked curiously.

"Probably, but if it backfires, don't blame me if you turn into a kitten." She laughed. Alicia pulled out her wand and gave him a curious look, almost asking him if he was sure he wanted her to try something.

"A week before I came here, Starfleet was having this big party and we were going to meet up there afterwards, her husband serves as first officer on one of the other ships."

A kitten? That was different but Liam gave her a devious grin. "No one suspects kittens, and if they do then they're easily forgiven because of the cuteness."

Alicia nodded. She knew how strange it was leaving people behind for a whole new world, universe, whatever this all was. Although she also knew a version of her little sister was still in Atlantis, which was weird to think about.

Bursting out laughing at his reaction she nodded, taking a moment to stop laughing she thought about the word the Kitten-Strange had written in the dirt with his pause. Her intent.

She looked at some of the daisies around them and figured transfiguring them into butterflies wouldn't upset the balance of the place they were in, her intent was to show the good of magic, not the bad. Swishing her wand and muttering the right words she pointed her wand towards the flowers.

Things were quiet for a moment and it appeared to work, the flowers did start to turn into butterflies, but what she wasn't expecting was for them to get so big. They seemed harmless, and were but all accounts but Alicia's expression clearly showed something had gone amiss.

It was an odd thing to see, flowers turning into butterflies and giant ones at that; Alicia looked surprised by the result, obviously it hadn't been what she had intended. "Pretty." In fact, it had been one of the coolest things he had ever seen.

Liam wasn't sure what sort of practical application such a spell would have; although, maybe they could train the butterflies to go after Leaftsy. He smirked "Want to turn the stream into whiskey for me? We could have a party."

"When we get back on the ship, you should come down to one of the training sessions Wanda and I have," she paused. "They are a little more," she imitated an explosion with her hands. They mostly worked their magic in offensive and defensive magic.

Laughing, she nodded. "I wish, if they'd let it work, I'd have already done it, doesn't work that way." She sighed. "Although I really think we could all use a night off from goodie-two-shoes."

"I do like a good explosion." It would be interesting to see their powers when they weren't being affected by this place. Liam shrugged. "Can't blame a guy for asking."

He smirked, Liam might have been a decorated Starfleet captain but he wasn't above a little mischief. "Have something in mind?"

Alicia leaned back, thinking. "Hmm," she thought for a moment. "There are a few options." She took another moment. "The question is, what can we get away with?"

Liam laughed, such admissions were usually worth a trip to the shrink but they were not playing by Starfleet's rules here so he would allow it.

"Good question, we don't want to end up angering our host." Who knew what might set his leaftyness off? "I guess if we went on a bender, he would get upset because everyone would be too hungover to play his games." They would need to think of something else.

"I thought about trying to find berries to make something to drink out of, but had the same worry, not sure they'd approve of a bunch of hungover people trying to get through an obstacle course, and if it is anything like the ninja course..." Alicia rotated her sore shoulder. "Not sure I'd want to tackle that hungover." Well, she'd done similar things, but she didn't feel like she needed to mention that.

"Harmless pranks might be okay, though," she said thoughtfully.

"Too bad we don't have access to the kitchen." The food just appeared at mealtime; if Leaftsy wasn't an outright menace, he would have a great future as a chef. "So can't spike the food and I'm not seeing any poison ivy around here, I'm coming up empty."

"Oh, don't even get me started," Alicia groaned. "Do you have any idea how much I miss cooking?" She grabbed a flower and threw it at him. She did laugh at his comment about poison ivy. "Haven't seen anything that is poison but that doesn't mean there isn't anything."

Liam laughed. "See now if Leaftsy really wanted to test our skills, he should have let you and Pike have a bake-off." And while it sounded simple, he knew that kind of activity could be cutthroat.

"Considering what I know about sentient beings, it would be just as likely that all the plants around here are related to him." They hadn't seen any other members of his race but that could be because they thought the trees surrounding the park were just trees.

Alicia looked around them. "It's another feeling knowing the trees are watching us. Always thought they were watching. This is a little bit different." She admitted.

It was a bit unsettling, yeah but a definite possibility. "If he just lets us go back to the ship after all of this, I'm going to be surprised." Because who kidnapped people to play with and then sent them on their way after it was all over?

He smiled and shook his head. "You know there is a being in my time who reminds me a lot of Leaftsy, I wonder if they know each other."

"If this guy is anything like the people who kidnapped a bunch of my mates and school rivals to play Quidditch for six months, they'll let us go," she shrugged. It was one of the reasons she felt a little less freaked out by everything here.

"That sounds worse than this." Although, he wasn't sure how long they were going to be here.

"A being named Q, very little is known about his people really he just sort of shows up and gives everyone in Starfleet a hard time. We can't retaliate because well, he's not really harming us and if pushed, he might decimate the galaxy. He is very much an asshole."

"The Quidditch part was a lot of fun," She wasn't so sure about the rest of what had happened there, still.

"He might decimate the galaxy? Sounds like someone fantastic," she said sarcastically. "If he does know Leaftsy, let's hope they aren't working together, not sure I am in the mood to deal with an arse that might decimate the galaxy, or multiverse, or whatever."

"I thought they might have been but they have a different way of going about things; Q would want you to know that your suffering was his doing." Leaftsy seemed pretty hands-off, happy to let people participate and not get involved.

The way she said it, Liam had thought perhaps she had met some people who didn't feel that way."Witches are humans." he reassured her.

"Jealous?" He snorted. "Or maybe he's such an ass that his own people won't talk to him and he wants someone to play with." And Starfleet so easily took the bait because, above everything, they strived to understand all life forms.

"I would pay to see you catch him." A lot of the people Q harassed were too lenient on him, Alicia didn't look like the kind of person who would put up with his nonsense, and Liam liked that. "So, can you do magic without the wand?" It wasn't his area of expertise but he was curious about it.

"That fond of the bloke?" She teased. At his next question she nodded. "A little, but we mostly it's with the wand, there are some things I can do, but not as much." She admitted, heck wordless magic was a struggle for a lot of people, wandless was a whole other thing.

"There are few people I'm actually fond of." His family of course, and a few close friends." If Q went missing, Liam doubted anyone would come looking for him, hell they would probably throw a party.

"Are you allowed to be showing me all this magic?" Seemed like something they would be very secretive about. "Or is it a case of 'the rules are different here'?"

"Atlantis has a way of making that grow," she was surprised by the number of people she'd added to those she considered family, especially because back home she felt like she was pulling away from people more and more.

"Here? It doesn't matter, we're kidnapped by a Leaf. Think the whole magic is real thing already flew out the window," she laughed. "If we were in my world, yeah, it'd be against the rules. Muggles aren't supposed to know about magic unless their kids end up being muggleborn or they marry into a wizarding family."
