“Don’t go,” Alicia whispered as she looked at the two dogs who were wagging their tails at her. All three of them were standing by the lake. Alicia felt as though she’d been tortured for the past week seeing them, but at the same time, she wasn’t sure she was. It was confusing.
After the words left her mouth, it seemed both dogs were there and really there. They rushed forward, practically tackling Alicia. She fell backward into the water as they licked her, wagged their tails, and wiggled around her, demanding hugs. Alicia was laughing so hard she didn’t even care that she was sitting in the water of the lake.
“Okay! Okay! Okay!” Alicia laughed as tears started to fall down her face. She didn’t notice someone was there until she heard the laughter.
