Small mentions of gore, others welcome to join.
Ribbon was lounging, in her usual somewhat cat-like fashion, arms crossed under her head as she laid out full length on a branch appearing to be nothing more than the rapidly deepening shadows of the forest beyond the edge of Revolves electric lights, when the first boom occurred. That made her open one lazy eye and roll it in the direction of the sound. It didn't quite penetrate her thinking enough for her to care about it, not yet anyway. Then Shy opened up a PA channel near her.
There were speakers scattered throughout the island, most of them were broadcasting a general alarm. But the one nearest to her carried Shy's electronic tone in her direction.
Father will be pleased if you go save organics. I will insist he give you your quiet room back. Ribbon opened her other eye and seemed to heave a sigh that ran through her entire body from nose to tail, fluttering ribbons like disturbed feathers. Then she leaned over and let herself drop off the branch. To be completely honest, she was doing this more out of boredom than out of any real interest in what she would get from it. Longterm planning wasn't really her strong suit either unless you considered long term to cover the next half hour or so.
Blue block and part of Yellow had sunk down into a crater, an unstable one at that. Ribbon could feel the difference in the ground before she got close. So switched to carefully spiderwalking the ground, distributing her weight easily. Her breathing became audible as she considered what she was going to do now. She had to go down into the hole, there were heartbeats down there she could hear. Heartbeats and various minor cries for help from those who were still conscious. It might have been better to be unconscious given the circumstances.
There were guards around the hole, trying to keep others out and obviously trying to decide how best to go about getting down into the mess. There were halls leading to the area from the underground, mostly blocked with debris. It might offer something useful if those were cleared away. However, in the meantime, Ribbon was more interested in rescuing those who were caught in limbo between levels, trapped by concrete and steel.
She wrinkled her nose with a dissatisfied huff. There had better be marshmallows involved in this stupidity somewhere.
She was over the heads of the guards and down the hole long before they could do anything about it, part of her using the surface as an anchor. If Ribbon could have seen, she would have been treated to what to her was perfectly all right, severed limbs, staring eyes, lots of blood mixed in with the rubble. Blue Block was the largest block, housed the most people, employed the most guards...therefore, there were a great many bodies down in that hole. However, not everyone was dead. Blood clotted thickly, drying as it slipped down thanks to gravity. Pulling away a piece of what had once been a wall, Ribbon unearthed a still breathing body. Slipping her touch around the woman, she pulled her free, the sound of ripping flesh accompanying.
White hair was rust colored with blood. Ribbon returned to the surface and laid her out for someone else to gather up before slipping back down into the darkness.
If anyone in Blue or Yellow wants to be pulled from the wreckage by Ribbon, just comment below.
