And They're BACK!
She wasn’t going to get to be up close and personal with someone else dying, because the moment that shot went off the world started to shift again like it had before. Except this time was a little bit more violent, as if they’d been thrown into a whirlpool really. One minute they were standing outside, in the sun, surrounded by the sea and a set of rather unhappy pirates. The next minute, they were in the dark near the center of the arenas. Mia sat on the edge of a railing kicking her feet back and forth like a child. Once they were back, she applauded with a big smile.
“Back!” Mia was trying to bring people back in a somewhat timely manner, but given that she had slept through most of the day, it was now near midnight. The little woman seemed to lose interest in them almost immediately. However, there were others who were very much paying attention.
Three guards, weapons drawn, advanced on their position. They looked like riot cops, which was to say heavily armored, with clear face plates and large plastic shields. Violet looked at them with the same distaste she’d treated everyone in authority with of late.
“Sir, it appears we have missing collar B-1224, Violet, and unaccounted for human, Redel, Abigail. Apprehending missing mutant now.” One of them reported into his radio. Then he addressed Abigail directly. “Please stand aside, this mutant is known for violent behavior. We seek to avoid the loss of human life.”
This had been an odd day for them. Random mutants disappearing. A human turning up missing as well when the security sweep was done. It was crazy. Now they started to reappear. Whoever had chosen Mia as the reason out of the betting pool was going to make big money tonight.
Violet didn’t seem to be particularly mindful of the fact that these three men had weapons. Just the way she held herself said the first person to get close was going to find out exactly how much violence she was capable of.
