"Oh, no. It wasn't that bad." Dietre felt pain as well as anyone else, he was simply more tolerant, it took quite a bit to get him to react. Other people had caring family members to rush to their side when they injured themselves as children, enforcing that expressing pain meant they would get help. Dietre didn't quite have the same experience, and so, like all of his emotions, his expressing of pain was muted.
"I'm trying...somewhat." He knew he wasn't giving it his all to loosening up. But the fact he was aware of that was a step in the right direction, hopefully. Dietre's face softened, and though his lips didn't quite curve upward, he gave off the impression of a smile. His gratitude toward Vic was enough that he didn't even stiffen up when the man put a hand on his shoulder.
"Thank you, really. Really." He could add a million 'really's and he doubted it'd ever be enough. The moment was only partially ruined by Vic's joking. Dietre stood, shooting him a sharp look, going red in the face for about the twentieth time in the past hour. He mumbled, irritated and embarrassed.
"...You can find out but I hope you don't say too much." This was as close as Dietre was going to get to saying outright 'Yes, I'm gay!!' for the time being.
He gave Vic a little wave and began to walk out, but before he did he called out over his shoulder.
