If forfeit was a possibility, she'd have taken it. Unfortunately at his question, Violet's eyes went to Ethan knowing that he was probably taking some sick pleasure in just the fact that she was upset by her opponent. He wouldn't let her forfeit. He wanted to see her break and crawl. Today, he might get that. It was hard to even think about hitting someone who had held her son, knowing that the person she was fighting had done absolutely no wrong.
"No and if we don't make it good, we can end up in sudden death," she was pretty sure that Ethan would order it. He didn't care about her as a person. He wanted to destroy her. Push her to the point of no return. "So you think we can make it good?"
Both of them were fighters and survivors. Up against other people, neither of them would have even considered the idea of dropping out. But they were fighting each other. They were family. One didn't typically try to kill family without provocation.
This was how Revolve broke people. It forced conflict, broke connections, and made everyone an enemy. He felt bad. She could sense that. She didn't feel any better about it. They were going to have to make it good. She couldn't afford not to. They'd already called one Sudden Death. Why not two in one day? Especially since Ethan hated her guts and wanted nothing more than to be rid of her?
This is what you mean....nothing. It was hard to shake that thought. A monkey riding her back into this throwdown. "I'm so sorry, sweetheart."
