Vic stared wide eyes at him for a long moment, trying to collect himself. Ok. Giant dog-thing did not look overly aggressive, and... and why would a dog be here, loose, anyway? In all his years on the island he had never seen one outside of a rich woman's purse, so one this size--no, it had to be a mutant. Had to be. He blinked and titled his head, noticing the collar. Ok yes, so it was a mutant. Like him. A shifter, or at least a... mutant wolf? Hmm.
"Ok... you're... you're really a mutant, right? Not really a dog-thing, right?" he asked, voice quivering faintly. Honestly, it was a strange thing for him to see. It would be like a normal person looking over and finding a T-rex standing in their door way. Entirely legendary, something that surely it existed sometime, somewhere, but was so far from reality, and known to be dangerous. Still, to a normal person, this kind of reaction was completely out of the ordinary. The irony, of course, was that Vic would be a little too delighted with a naked man showing up at his door, but that was neither here nor there.
He continued watching the wolf, not having noticed how his hands and feet had vanished entirely, blended instinctively in with the floor beneath him, the illusion having turned his forearms and half his legs half transparent to boot. It's just a mutant, he tried to remind himself. Something in his brain told him that this one was trying to be friendly, which made him feel faintly guilty for his reaction, but that kind of surprised panic was hard to control.
