In the end it always happens. Who: Ribbon, Geno, and Lucky When: Evening, April 15 Where: Out near Black Block What: Lucky pushes his luck a little too far and finds out he's still very, very mortal.
One would assume she would need to escape from her handlers to get into trouble. Unfortunately, that assessment would be very, very wrong. Ribbon looked utterly content lying on a branch like an underfeed cat, her ribbons folded down around her as if to give her a blanket. Occasionally one would slip out of place, a nervous twitch from a creature who switched from frenetic movement to absolute stillness so freely, then like slightly ruffled feathers it would settle back into place, merging with the darkness and disappear.
She had been complacent, almost asleep, when someone walked up under her tree. Geno was sitting there alone, the chain attached to her collar had been lengthened and now it was looped around his waist. It was still liable to cause him pain if she took off running, but this way, he had more of a chance of being able to slow her down enough to talk to her before she got completely away from him. Ernie was taking a coffee break.
"So you pulled Monster baby sitter?" Ribbon didn't know Lucky as Lucky, she knew him as Mr. Loudmouth who always seemed to want to hurt someone. He had the good sense not to try anything in her direction, but that didn't make her like him all that much. He was a pain in the ass. Even the other guards thought he was too much. He took too much pleasure in it.
"Yeah, I pulled baby sitting duty," Geno looked up from his magazine, he always seemed to have one with him. "She's up there." He pointed up, one just had to follow the chain to find the patch of darkness lying on an overhead branch.
"Right, right," Lucky dutifully looked up. Ribbon shifted enough to make it obvious she was aware of his presence. Fischer's pet bitch. He hated how she was treated differently from others. Runs off, kills people, comes back, and she gets what...nothing. She got to behave as if nothing happened. Allowed to off humans on a whim and Fischer just paid the shit off and kept going. It was sickening. Allowed to continue the freaks were going to be running this place. Hell, they already were...there was the bitch in charge of Green Block...another one of Fischer's pet projects.
Fucking Fischer. The man was setting them all up to be destroyed. He wasn't keeping these creatures in line anymore, letting himself get too close.
Lucky, for all the time he'd spent at Revolve, didn't know Ribbon as well as he should have. He made a crucial mistake. He shot Geno first. By the time the bullet went into Geno's chest and the man started to bleed, Ribbon was in motion. He had thought to kill the man and then the monster in hopes of covering up his crime. What he didn't realize was that projectile weapons were absolutely useless against her. Before he had raised the gun to aim at her, Ribbon sliced through his arm just above the wrist. He opened his mouth to scream and she wrapped his head. Two seconds later, it collapsed like a popped balloon. Ribbon released his body, turning instead to Geno. Her handler was slowly bleeding to death.
"You gonna finish it?" He asked worriedly, looking at the monster hulking over him. Ribbon just shook her head no before bodily picking him up. Ernie would find the mess later. In the meantime, Ribbon was taking her handler to medical for a gunshot wound. Maybe he'd survive.
