Witness the Birth of a Goddess Who: Phoenix OTA When: 2:30am Thursday Where: Just outside Green block What: Jean is asleep and the collar stops subjecting Phoenix to it's own dampening abilities, ultimately setting her free to roam the night. Notes: Cut texts are property of Marvel Warnings: PG-13 for language and gore The night had been cold and Jean was simply wrapped up in her bed, sound asleep, and dreaming away. She was no longer in control, and the creature within her had been quiet, settled, and waiting for the chance to rise from her enforced slumber. Nothing had cracked, not a moment had passed since she had been forced behind the jail cell of that piece since it was given to the stupid girl host of hers. They had once agreed, gotten along, the fights, the pits, it had all vented the rage that the Phoenix carried with her, burning deep into her core. The fires had lit the night sky as if it were a dawning day, and the Red Queen had ruled the island once. Swelling with pride and gladness at the song of death in her memories, the creature shifted as if filtering feathers to smooth them out. The redheaded woman rolled over in her sleep.
Useless girl, so willing and read to bend to anyone who would care. If someone called her name she went running. It was sad really, pathetic, to watch her hound for a morsel of affection. Her will was so weak, so very weak. She was lucky, really, to have such a great partner on her side. Being symbiont would support the stupid girl better than it would serve such a divine creature. At least the great bird was still alive. She stretched, beneath the skin, seething at her mortal captive who had somehow enslaved her for the sake of this place the woman called 'home'.
Wrong, it was all so completely wrong. The creature's home was in the stars, among the planets and dark matter, between gravitational fields, to soar free, to devour and encompass. That was her purpose, not this deplorable excuse for living, caged like a weak excuse for a mythical being. She had been the cause of the myths, she had been the reason they existed, to grant the humans a reason to believe in truth. Those same races now enslaved her for their own joy, and her childish host had taken it without argument, like a gift. This was no gift.
A pause. Sensing, feeling. Something had changed. The woman, the host, was still sleeping, still caught in her dream, the imagery of some male or other whisking her off her feet, the same boring nonsense, and yet something was different. The Phoenix stretched her wings. Space, as if the ceiling had been ripped away, as if the very room had changed all around her. A sense of greater openness, likened to the memories long past of the time before the necklace, before the control. A time when the Phoenix sang her death song in the pits and nothing and no one would stop her from it.
Something was very different indeed.
It took very little time for the divine entity to make it's way out of Jean's inner sanctum of the mind, even less for her to flood the consciousness that was abandoned, and enrapture the silly mortal in her own body. The drugs were gone, the ever present sense of restraint finally lifted, and the body she was borrowing started to glow with exact change. Red filtered over her form then, an absolute difference from the woman before. Where Jean was motherly and gentle, Phoenix was sharp and demanding. Where the redhead was caring and perfectionist, Phoenix was exacting and perfect itself. As different as day and night, dark and light, the deeper portions of the woman were hidden within this symbiotic relationship, and while few had seen it, even less had understood it. There had only been one thing to keep her from bringing the entire thing down and turning it to rubble. That necklace.
Now, without the barrier of technology, the island would become her playground.
The body lifted off the bed and rotated in the air, spinning, her hair flying around her form as atoms and molecules shifted into a new shape, clothing changing with a single thought. Where before there had been a black night shift, now there was a set of pants and some kind of covering, a symbol of some nature adoring her front. The imagery of her own being combed over her form, a thick black almost living writhing ooz of cloth formed itself to cover her at her own will, the remainder of the cloth wrapping about her arms as she slowly lowered herself to ground level, not exactly touching down. She walked then, forward and straight through the wall, ignoring the items, the molecules that hers were slipping through, sliding them by the boundaries around her own, then reforming them immediately on the other side. Concentration never once leaving her as she walked on.
Flames licked at her body, drawing the eyes of the first poor sap to notice her. "You're not supposed to be out here!" He was reacting to the abilities without a thought to who it was he was speaking to. He turned to press a button on the remote he likely wore, hoping it would work, would help. Phoenix reflectively waited, knowing what should happen. Nothing did. A wicked smile moved over her lips and the man she now faced realized not only who he was talking to but what was going to happen now. "I-I'-I'm sorry, Miss...I mean...I ..." He started to stammer a reply, but it was all too little and far too late. She rotated her head to the side like a hawk considering a morsel of food, or watching a rat run in circles out of fear. All it took was a moment to kill him, to stop his heart, to sever his brain stem or spinal chord. A mere thought to do nothing but silence his man's life, his spirit, and yet what else was there to do? He would die.
She reached out, drawing him to her until his throat met her hand and she lifted him up off the ground, flames writhing around him, licking at his mind just like the were attacking his flesh, slowly burning him layer by layer. She spoke to him as well, deeper and louder than the terror that scratched at him, making any movement impossible. I am the Dark Phoenix, the power behind your Red Queen. You are no longer a useful being. I remove you from this place for all time. He heard her, he just couldn't respond as he began to die in her hands, his heart beating faster in the body's survival attempt, though the light show had brought onlookers. Somewhere a woman screamed as the stench of rotting flesh filled the nostrils of those around her. She released the hold on him, the metal in his uniform had long since melded to his charred flesh, his vocal chords finally going silent, his eyes fusing shut with blood. It was amazing that he was still alive, how resilient these pesky mortals could be.
She looked up from his immovable and slumped form from where she had dropped him, into the small crowd that had gathered. Who was next? Who would dare stop her in any manner. Death tasted wonderful on the night air as destruction suddenly echoed around her. Others were out. Others were free. Mutants. The next evolution of these humans. The next race. They were out there, just like her, seeking freedom, and knew that they would be denied it.
The light around her flashed, the sky lighting around her, near by likely blinding those who were too close, the emblem of the entity lighting up the sky like a small sun, it's bird like effect etched into the surrounding cloud line as the moonlight shone down. They could not stop her.
