"Close Quarters", Kingdom Hearts (Sora/Riku/Kairi)
Free-for-all!
Title: Close Quarters
Author: Cephy
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Word Count: 400
Prompt: Sora/Riku/Kairi: road trip - "If you can still stand a person after being trapped in a small gummi ship with them all day, you're either in love or a saint."
A/N: Rather silly and pointless. But I figured silly pointless fic is better than no fic at all, yes?
"Eighty-four paopu fruits on the tree, eighty-four paopu fruu~uits, shake the crown and one falls down, eighty-three paopu fruits on the tree. Eighty--"
"Sora."
"--three pao--"
"Sora."
"--pu fruits on the--"
"Sora, shut up."
Sora swiveled his seat around and fixed Riku with a pointed look. "Thought you weren't talking to me."
"One more verse of that song and I'll talk you right out the airlock."
Rolling his eyes, Sora spun his chair in rattling circles. "You're the one that said we couldn't spar."
"No, that was Kairi." Who was currently locked away in the only separate cabin on the ship, because she said the buildup of testosterone in the air was giving her a headache, and the look on her face had been far too scary to argue with. "I said I'd be happy to kick your ass if I didn't think you'd punch a hole in the wall somehow and screw us all over."
"As if." A huff and a scowl, then-- "Well, we wouldn't have to use keyblades."
"Oh, right. You'd somehow manage to control yourself, would you? Mister 'leap before I look', Mister 'thinks with my keyblade'--"
"And you're so much better, are you? Mister-- uh, ignores my friends and, uh--"
"Very slick, Sora."
"Shut up."
"No, really, it was a cutting insult. I am wounded."
"Shut up--"
"Boys."
Both froze, then turned slowly; Kairi was standing in the hatchway with her arms crossed and her lips pursed. "Hi Kairi," Sora said sheepishly. Riku just sniffed and looked away, but his cheeks were faintly pink.
"I can hear you through the walls."
"Sora's loud," Riku muttered.
"I'm loud?" Sora protested. Loudly.
"Boys," Kairi said again, then smiled sweetly in a way that fooled neither of them. "Did either of you think to notice that we're in orbit?"
Two heads whipped around, wide-eyed, to where the front viewscreen was placidly scrolling across the surface of the world they'd been aiming for-- before the meteors, and the detour, and the shortcut. It was Sora who punched the air with a cheerful whoop and lunged for the controls, while Riku slumped down in his own seat and gave an exaggerated sigh of relief that was only half an act.
He loved them, sure. But given the choice between fighting heartless and more time sealed up with a bored Sora and a restless Kairi-- he'd take the heartless any day.
No one was worth enduring the paopu song.
