It never occurred to Leon to wonder before. Even when Cloud had first come back to them, looking younger than Leon would have expected after nine years of separation. He had seen other blonds like that. Pale and baby faced, never looking their age.

Then, as the years started to pass, and he watched the others start to age, Leon still didn't really noticed. Not until he woke up one morning and saw Cloud standing by a window, stretching slowly.

There were no catches in his movement, no stiffness. None of the signs that the others were displaying. The only thing that didn't say Cloud was still a man in his early twenties was his eyes.

Watching as the black streak that was Cloud's wing, hidden under his skin, Leon wondered just how old Cloud was. When he had visited the first time, they had assumed he was the age he was supposed to be. Even with the wing and the eyes, they hadn't asked.

Now Leon wondered.

Because even then, Cloud had a look that said he'd seen more than any of them could imagine, even if he never said it.

And nobody knew that much about the Darkness.

Add in the fact that Sephiroth and Cloud seemed to have a long, long history together, something to drive them to that level of obsession.

Then take the fact that Cloud and Sephiroth couldn't seem to die. No matter how much one fought, the only thing either would do was vanish into a burst of light, only to reappear later.

Leon wondered how old Cloud was.

Then he decided it didn't matter.

Though he did worry about what would happen if Cloud outlived them all.
