Mustadio had been traveling with Ramza and his friends for over a year now. The team had been through much together, fighting off the forces of Lucavi while loosing and gaining new friends, and they still had more danger in front of them. Ramza was now on a quest to save his sister, Alma, from the same forces they had been fighting, with no time for rest.
Mustadio had wanted to help, so with Agrias he had convinced Ramza that it was time to take a break. Ramza had looked at them with sadness in his eyes, but nodded; knowing that not just his teammates needed rest, but he as well. They had decided to make camp at Doguola Pass and all were grateful for the chance to rest and also to practice for the upcoming battles.
Throughout most of the time spent at camp, Ramza had been off by himself, lost in thought. Mustadio wanted to go over there and help his friend cheer up the way he helped Agrias, but he was too nervous to try. Mustadio knew that he had a slight crush on the naïve noble from almost the first time they had met. He felt weird traveling alongside Ramza, who was his friend and one of the few people on the team that he could relate to in any way.
Mustadio knew it was silly, but he been coy, almost downright seductive towards Ramza. He never revealed anything, he just wanted to see if Ramza would catch on to his act. Mustadio wasn’t really surprised that Ramza didn’t notice; he might have grown more knowledgeable of the ways of evil in the hearts of men, but he was still naïve in other areas.
So Mustadio kept his distance from Ramza at that time and spent most of his time shooting off his gun for target practice and chatting up some of his teammates. One night he was on guard duty with Agrias and started to fall asleep, his gun falling listlessly from his hand.
“I’m worried about Ramza,” Agrias said just as his eyes were about to close.
“What?” Mustadio called out nervously, grabbing his gun in a vice-like grip.
Agrias shook her head at this and waited for Mustadio to calm down before starting over.
“I said that I’m worried about Ramza, he’s been in this bad mood ever since what happened to his sister.”
Mustadio looked over to Agrias and could see a sadness lurking in her blue eyes, even behind the braid of blonde hair obscuring her face. He remembered that look after they had helped Agrias escape those Lionel Knights.
“He reminds you of yourself after what happened to Ovelia, right?” Mustadio asked, quickly averting his gaze from Agrias.
Agrias gave a sigh in response to the question, knowing that Mustadio was right on the mark.
“Yeah, I hated myself for what happened to her; it was my duty to protect her and I failed. It was only thanks to you, Ramza and the others that I was able to escape my bad mood,” Agrias answered.
Mustadio could only nod at this and turned to see Agrias gazing up into the sky, with a smile on her face. He then looked up into the sky along with her and could see the moon shinning brightly there, with stars helping fill up the pass with light.
“I think you should talk to Ramza, try and get him out of his mood. See that it’s okay to be happy and cheerful, even as we go and rescue Alma,” Agrias told Mustadio after a long pause.
Mustadio blinked and looked over to Agrias, who wasn’t staring up at the brilliant lights above, but at him. She still had a faint smile on her lips.
“Really, but why me?” Mustadio asked, pointing to himself in emphasis.
“Isn’t it obvious, he does trust you the most out of all of us,” Agrias answered.
“You really think so?”
“Yeah I do,” Agrias said with a nod of her head. She then stood up and walked back over to her post.
Mustadio watched her go off and sighed as he turned back to the sky, thinking over what she had said.

The next day, amidst food being cooked over a roaring campfire and friends talking with each other in joyous conversation, Ramza was turned away from the party with his head bent between his knees and his arms wrapped around his legs. Mustadio gazed at Ramza’s hunched back, trying to find the courage to go over to him.
He turned back towards his friends. When Agrias saw that he was looking their way she smiled at him, waving her hand in a shooing motion towards Ramza. Mustadio smiled back at her and walked over to Ramza until he was standing beside him. He then plunked himself down next to him, his legs stretched out on the soft grass.
Ramza turned over towards where Mustadio was sitting and was surprised to see him there. When Mustadio turned towards him and smiled his flashing grin, Ramza sighed and turned away. Mustadio blinked in response to the action.
“Hey Ramza, are you okay?” He asked.
At the moment those words escaped his lips all the pent up energy inside of Ramza exploded out of him.
“My sister was taken from me, do you think I’m okay!” Ramza growled out; turning towards Mustadio as he said those words.
He then blinked up at Mustadio, gazing into his shocked eyes. Ramza immediately looked away from him again.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have shouted like that,” Ramza apologized.
Mustadio then shook his head.
“No it’s all right to let your anger out like that. It’s certainly better then keeping all your emotions bottled up inside.”
“You really think so,” Ramza asked and Mustadio nodded in response.
“I know that your sister would want to see you happy and not mopping around. We’re going to find her Ramza, I promise,” Mustadio told Ramza in reassurance and because he knew it to be true.
Ramza then smiled at Mustadio, who positively beamed from it. The two then shared a nice long silence until Ramza spoke up, his voice light and teasing.
“So do you still like me?” He asked and Mustadio blinked at him.
“Why ask such a silly question, of course I still like you, you are my friend after all,” Mustadio said, but Ramza just shook his head in response.
“No, I don’t mean do you still like me as a friend…” Ramza began, but trailed off when he suddenly lost his courage.
Mustadio didn’t quite understand what Ramza meant until his eyes went wide with understanding. A blush soon dampened his cheeks and he looked away.
“Yeah I do, so you knew this whole time?” Mustadio asked, shyly turning back around to see Ramza nodding his head.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I was nervous, but I was going to end up telling you. Then Alma was kidnapped and I couldn’t see any appropriate time to say anything; I just want to find my sister,” Ramza answered. He then sighed and hid his head in his hands.
Mustadio watched his friend then sighed, putting his arm around Ramza’s shoulders. The two sat like that for awhile, Mustadio watching the clouds in the sky and Ramza with his face hidden in his hands. Ramza then looked up and smiled before planting a kiss on Mustadio’s cheek. Mustadio’s blush then deepens, but he doesn’t let go of his friend. At least until Agrias called them over to finish off the leftover breakfast that the team left for them, smiling.
