With the Avengers left divided in the aftermath of their civil war, a global crisis couldn't have come at a worse time. By the time Thanos collected the last of the infinity stones, the battle was over before it had begun. The good guys were hopelessly outmatched and outgunned, the world in chaos. Steve Rogers gave his life to give them all one last shot at putting the devastation and destruction right: he died in the process, but he was able to liberate the Time Gem from Thanos's possession.
