Username Purge (an update)

This is going to take probable 3-4 weeks to get all of the inactive accounts as there are a lot of them and I don't want to kill the servers doing this.

As always you can see what usernames are available here.

  I have a quick question that hopefully someone can answer. When I typed a username in to see if it was deleted, it directed me to a different deleted username. (I'm guessing the username was renamed and they chose the "automatically forward users from ___ to new username" option. ) My question is, when the username is purged, will the re-directed name free up?
  
  I hope that makes sense, if not let me explain it a different way. Let's say I went to view the username xx and it automatically went to the username xxp, and xxp is deleted. Once xxp is purged, will xx be freed up? Thanks to anyone who can help!

    Oh, just kidding, scratch my other answer, I misunderstood your question! I'm curious to know the answer to that, too.

    squeaky: 5/13/11 12:27 pm (local) Unfortunately no, as the owner of the journal rocket changed their journal name to girl and decided to leave a redirect in place.
    
    I'm assuming the same applies to deleted accounts as well.
