This is going to take probable 3-4 weeks to get all of the inactive accounts as there are a lot of them and I don't want to kill the servers doing this.

    Is this why I keep getting emails for my account and OTHER PEOPLES accounts being inactive? It's really annoying and I'm starting to get worried now that other people's account information is being sent to me :(

      If these usernames had been involved in trading, then it is possible that the emails are going to the wrong people. However we do not support trading of accounts and will not interviene in such a situation.

      Otherwise, it is very likely that these accounts were registered by someone else using your email address.

        I've never traded accounts with anyone. I barely know anyone here, so why are people registering accounts with my email?

          What's the big deal? They don't have access to any of your personal information. Just delete the e-mails.

              How are they using your email address? They typed your email address on a website. They do not have ACCESS to your EMAIL.

                    Well, I didn't think people were going to use it - I had it up for contact purposes. This kind of thing never happens on livejournal.

                      It's your responsibility to manage what information you allow to be accessible to the public. I guarantee things like this have happened on other sites before, it just didn't happen to you, necessarily. It's not Squeaky's fault, nor does it have anything to do with IJ. Calm yourself, hide your e-mail, and let those other accounts get purged if you don't want anything to do with them. Not hard, dude.

          Is it a Hotmail address? If so, they recycle usernames so it's possible you just happened to register an email address someone else used here.

            No, it's a gmail account. Do they do the same thing?
            Though it doesn't make sense, I use my account all the time - why would they suddenly recycle it.

              No, I'm pretty sure Gmail doesn't do that. That's really strange that people might be using your email address to register accounts. Either way, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.

                Yeah, I'll just hide my email. I thought it was weird too.
                And I was only upset because I got a notification about my account being purged because it had been inactive since January. I wasn't even here in January.
