Notification issues

Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
We realize that there have been some issues with notifications and other things while the site is running slow during peak hours. We have put in a couple of fixes to help alleviate this problem. We have been on top of it the whole time, just have not been able to communicate it out to the end users due to a lack of time.
  • I've been experiencing a ton of server problems for the past couple of weeks, and today it has gotten worse.

At the same time (approximately) every day or so, the site doesn't load for 10 minutes or so, and when it does, it takes 5 minutes + to log in.

Today, it's doing a very old error where if I post an entry, and go back to edit it, click Save Entry: the entry's reverted to an old cached version, and shift + Refresh doesn't help. It's done this multiple times this morning, on different entries.
    • Squeaky did say this on Facebook:

Yes we are aware of the recent bout of outages. It is the database continuing to act up. We are looking for a permanent solution that doesn't involve taking the site offline for an extended period.

Just so everyone knows we do restart the database 6 times a day to help alleviate the problem. So if you see an outage at the top of an hour, try again in 5 minutes. We know about any extended outages within 30 minutes.
