Moving Sale

Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
In an effort to provide better service at a lower cost we are going to be moving to a different hosting provider for our servers. Once this move is completed we will analyze our costs and pass along some of the savings to you.

In order to make this move though we are going to need to raise about $4000 of extra cash. We need to raise this money as soon as possible so we can get the new servers up and running and get the site onto them.

I am going to be setting permanently insane accounts for sale for $50 and insane userpics for sale for a discounted $125. This sale will go on at least for 1 week, if we still have funds we need to raise by the end of that week we will leave the sale on.

In addition we are going to be selling 6 month Self-Committed accounts for $10 and 12 month Self-Committed accounts for $20.

Thank you for continuing to support InsaneJournal
  • I hope you get all the funds you need soon. I wish there was something I could buy that I don't already have, but I already have a permanent account with insane userpics. So... there's not really any upgrade past that. :/
  • A sale on regular accounts would be awesome.
    • Ditto! I've been looking to update (or renew) some of my accounts to paid. It'd be a great incentive to do so!
    • Great idea. I've gone and set this up.
      • Sweet! You are made of win! I will be renewing some of my rp accounts then!
  • ugh I wish I could afford that...
  • Darn, I'm already permanently insane (most people know that, lol) and I have insane userpics. But I hope you get all the funds you need!
  • Hey, I have a fiction journal that isn't permanently insane yet! Awesome!
  • I know it's not always possible, but in the future when you're doing this, if we could get some sort of warning, that would be amazing. Some of us would really love to buy these but can never manage to save up the money on such short notice.
  • GRAGH. What a time for my roommate to be ditching me (leaving me to pay for everything all on my own)! I'm going to try and pitch in as much as I can though.
  • I don't suppose you'd consider lowering the cost of insane userpics? $US125 is a lot of money for an Aussie.
    • This is a lower price than normal, this is a unique item and causes a lot of load on the server so we do not want to sell to many of them.
  • I just upgraded my account to a paid one for six months. If I didn't have a trip away in just under two weeks, I possibly would've upgraded to a permanently insane one.
  • How many userpics does the "insane userpics" have again? I can't find it anywhere and I'm curious.
  • Good luck raising the funds! Have bought 12 months time for two of my RP accounts! Will prob buy for a third once I check the damage to my bank account....
  • Just as a question; I know you do the insane userpics for sales like this, but I can't afford the discounted or normal price for these. Is there another option in the works that would be put in with these sales for another 500, 1000, and so on userpics? I have a few permanent accounts with the icon addon, but another 500 to round me up to 1000 I would definitely be willing to spend money on for the four accounts that have the permanent and addon icons. :)
  • This post had one or two people worried. I am not, but I understand why they might be. Is IJ safe and sound? I suppose the move is necessary to limit costs and trouble, but so soon after the last move? Maybe you need to address this to make sure the few worried are less worried?
    • Its been over a year since the last year. We moved to a high priced provider, the downturn in the economy seems to have affected IJ as well. I have found a reliable provider that can put IJ on better servers for a lower monthly cost. We will be saving about 25% of our costs a month in doing this move.

While we are nowhere close to shutting down, we do need to make this move to help with the long term viability of this site.
      • Is it really a year? See... time flies when in good company.

And 25% is definitely worth considering, even without the downturn. Thanks for the elaboration, as always you're a wonder when it comes to communication.
        • You're probably thinking of the database shift a couple months ago to try to eliminate comment rot.
          • Not particularly, no. ;0) It really feels as if it was yesterday, but then again, I'm old, and time moves even faster for us grandmas. :D
  • This doesn't have to do with the paid account sale. I was wondering if it was possible to maybe come up with something that allows mass deletion of pm's?
  • Every time I try to reply to a comment through my email that has been left in an entry in my personal journal, I receive "* Incorrect password given for the username specified. You can recover your password here if you've forgotten it." The thing is, I'm logged in to that journal and my password isn't wrong. When I put my password in, it replies as a new comment to the entry instead of replying to the original comment left. It's only this journal of mine, it seems, as I have another journal I can reply to just fine through the same email.

I don't know if this is happening to anyone else, but any help would be much appreciated.
  • This feels like a dumb question but you said the sale would be for a week. Has it started then? I don't see a starting/ending date.

    Thanks!
    • It's started, yes, since those items are available in the store. I assume it started the day he posted the notice.
  • Can you get yourself affiliated with GPT sites like DealBarbiePays.com?

If you do, people would be more inclined to purchase a journal if they get some "cash back" and credit from DBP. She already has one set up for livejournal.
  • Will you be lowering the price of rename tokens ever like you did in a previous sale once? And also, should I be alarmed if I don't get a Change of Password email on one of my accounts?
  • Since i wanted t help out, I bought a six month for my community and for each of my side accounts.

I was curious though, how soon are the accounts in affect when the icons bump up and we can start making our own advanced layers?
  • The process of moving in to your newly bought house can be easier than ever if you hire a good moving company. Reliable movers will do their job at a reasonable price without neglecting the quality of their moving services. They can pack your belongings with the most care knowing that these are things which you treasure most. Also they can move your furniture which is a difficult task because it is consisted of not only lifting and moving them but also manoeuvring through doors, down and up the stairs.
