Issues Resolved

Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
The past few nights the site has had some loading issues. I have discovered and resolved the problems. A few of the webservers were not booting properly and I was also not being properly notified. I apologize for the issues you all have been seeing recently, the site should start running better right away.
  • Thank you for all that you do to try and keep this site running. Hopefully people will start to realize you're not going to let this place fall apart like GJ did.
  • squeaky you are such love. whenever i see minor issues i never even think twice about it because i know you'll have it fixed as soon as you can. thank you for your excellent service.
  • Knew you'd get to it when you could, you always do. Thank you, Squeaky. *goes back to squirrelling away money for another perm account*
  • Thanks so much for letting us know! :)
  • Thank you Squeaky! Much appreciated. ^_^
  • Thanks very much squeaky! ♥
  • Glad to hear it. Thank you.
  • You know, perhaos you should get an account on twitter like this fellow, and update it with this kind of information when you first notice that the site has problems? Because then, when I notice a problem on IJ, I would at least know that you know there is a problem on IJ... rather than wondering if it's just me, or whatever...
  • Thanks for the update!
  • oh okay now what about the comments disappearing? 10 out of 11 entries of mine have them gone- and one lost the comments to it twice.
    • I have some ideas as to what might be causing it, and as soon as time permits I am going to get this resolved.
      • i just sent an email, you're more than welcome to disect anything in my journal you need to because i know some people have lost comments to an entry or two- but i've lost them to all but one of mine. thank you for anything you can do. i thought about moving but i'd rather wait and hear what is causing it to avoid it in my new journal if it's something the user is doing wrong.
      • and if it helps for comparisons the journal [info]patrickstumph has never lost any
  • I hate to use this sort of journal for this, but I've experienced all of the comments disappearing from one particular post two nights in a row and then random individual comments disappearing from another post sporadically. Is this a new form of comment rot?
  • hopefully this helps but i noticed also when i lose comments everything comment wise for the entry is set back to "Journal Default"- like this post:

    http://petewentz.insanejournal.com/2484.html?mode=reply

any new comments are supposed to be screened and that works up until the comments disappear, and then it sets it back to "Journal Default" instead of screening all responces.

as far as my other posts that i lost comments in go- i don't adjust anything in them, i just keep it set to how the journal has it. my journal default is to screen anonymous comments and log anonymous ips.
  • thank you so much squeeky! You're awesome.
  • Thanks a lot, Squeaky! =D
  • New error: The majority of my journal entries' icons have been reverted to my default icon.

And just earlier this morning, I made 3 comments to my friend[info]mugetsu, and chose an icon for each comment, naturally. I just checked the entry again, and all of my comments there have been reverted to default icons.

The icon browser is back and usable for me, by the way; I haven't tried posting to see if Rich Text is back, for the record.
  • This is much better than even yesterday, but now I'm stuck on several pages, most noticeably when I try to update, view a friend's entry with comments, or check one of my own entries with a cut. It loads the default InsaneJournal layout as opposed to my theme or my friends' themes, and then refuses to load anything beyond the menus.

I could deal if I could actually see comments and whole post contents, but it doesn't finish loading, even if I leave it alone for fifteen minutes and them come back. Any idea how long it'll take before the website gets back into gear?
  • I'm not sure if it's just my computer, or if it's because I'm a Safari user... but I frequently get dropped server notices. All the other websites I'm accessing at the time continue to work just fine, but IJ refuses to load until I've cleared the history and closed/restarted Safari.
  • I have been getting random errors even today --- login failing, the error page, etc. But, tonight, when trying to post for [info]two_worlds I got this:

    [Error: Database handle unavailable (user: two_worlds; cluster: 2) at /home/lj/cgi-bin/LJ/Session.pm line 45 @ ijwebsever-brain1.insanewebhosting.com]
  • Thanks for all the hard work you put into this site, it's appreciated.

Just a couple of things ... I still can't preview entries before submitting them with my personal journal, it seems to work okay with asylums and as of about an hour ago I have lost all comments to my one public post. :(
  • Was one of the loading issues signing in?? I can't sign into my alternate account 'daphedant.' When I click sign in it just takes me back to the log in page. Can you fix this? :/ Thanks!!
