About the Ads
Due to the overwhelming load of bad ads that the other ad companies have been delivering to us, I have reverted the site back to using only google ads. While not having the diversity of multiple ad companies might hurt us in the short term, I am worried about that harm that the pop-ups, redirects, and other bad things that the other ad companies have been doing will affect us worse in the long term.

I've been attacked as well, but the anti-spyware that comes with my computer can't detect anything's wrong with it, although I have a continuous warning that I've been infected after being somehow redirected to a spyware site while browsing through IJ. How did you get rid of your infection?

Sorry to comment hop but I had the same issue. I had to actually go to Best Buy and pay $140 to have my computer repaired because it was so badly infected. Turns out I had over 160 malware/spyware/virus programs on my PC once it was cleaned up. I had protective measures running on my computer but when one thing sneaks in, it basically stops your programs from functioning. You may have to reinstall your PC if you're still having an issue.

i don't think that ij gave you all 160, but they have a tendency to multiply once you get one infection. my programs did not all stop functioning since the trojan i got was cleaned up somewhat quickly, but who knows if spyware is still lurking around. i ran about 10 scans and did a complete clean out (without a reformat) and everythign seems alright now.

next time you think you may have an infection, go to this forum! i googled and actually ended up fixing everything in a few days myself without a lot of hardware knowledge, etc. sorry best buy stole all of your money. :-(

I triple things up here with Adaware, Spybot S&D, and ATF cleaner to purge any spyware that's wedged itself into my Prefetch. (Which has accounted for a lot of reinfections for me here.) It can take a while to be sure everything's gone but it's a hell of a lot better than selling Best Buy your firstborn to let them look at all your pr0nz.

right now i have avg (i used adaware and it didn't run correctly with s&d), spybot s&d, superantispyware, online armor firewall, and a few anti-malware/cleaners/etc. that i downloaded to get rid of this. i am afraid to uninstall now because i don't want to have to do everything again if i get another spware. D: how do i find out if anything has wedged into my prefetch? i fixed mine myself within two days, but i want to make sure everything is a-okay now.

The fastest and easiest way is just to run ATF cleaner & have it clean out everything. Otherwise you're gonna end up searching for program names out of the process tree, which takes a while.

Where can you get ATF cleaner?

I hate looking through the registry for stuff that leaves traces or just refuses to go away.

the redirect to a spyware site (i'm guessing it's a fake program that will increase your malware) is actually the spyware's infection. ij may have caused it with the ads, but make sure not to click anything on that redirect!

to clean my computer, i googled and got this forum which gave me a step by step process and what programs to download. it took all day and about 50 reboots, but i think it is fixed. fingers crossed.

if you have any questions, send me a message! good luck!
