Database move complete

Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
I have completed moving all of the users to the new database. This means that site performance should begin to pick up.

I am still looking into the errors you are getting while commenting. If you see an error that shows that the database is unavilable when commenting, your comment has, most likely, been posted even though you see the error.

If you are still getting an error that says your journal is in read only mode, please let me know. Also if the error is only happening when posting to an asylum, please let me know what asylum.

Edit: I think I tracked down the "Database not available" error. It had to do with subscriptions. So to resolve this, I temporarily had to run them off. I will look into it more tomorrow evening. Please let me know if you are still seeing these errors on the site.
  • I can update it, and I seem to get comment notifications, but I myself can't see my post or its comments. In fact, I can't see anything at all of my journal except the IJ symbols, some images hosted off-site, white space and occasionally black lines. I see no text at all and can't navigate. I gather my friends saw my last post on their friends-list, but looking at my journal, they see a mess as well. Some claim to see miniature text.

I saw some unformatted text very briefly yesterday, but the next time I reloaded, it was gone again. I've logged out, had my computer off altogether, have cleared the cache and the cookies several times.
    • Okay, it looks like your journal has lost its formatting. I am not sure why. Try going to http://www.insanejournal.com/customize and switching your style and then switch it back again.

If you have a custom S2 style, you may need to re-upload it to the site.
      • Well, that's certainly better than having lost everything. :)
It was a custom style, and quite a fiddle, but at least now I know what to do. Thanks!
        • Good, what gave it away was when I used ?style=mine at the end of your URL it worked fine for me. Of course that wouldn't have worked for you because it was your style that was broken.
          • I don't suppose there's a backed up version of my journal with its former formatting which could just replace the broken one on the new server?
Hm. That might be a silly question, as I'm certainly no computer expert. I imagine you'd have thought of that if it could be done.
          • Okay, never mind that other question. I've set up something resembling the old layout, so I'll be fine now. Doesn't look as if any actual content is gone, thank heavens.
