Continuing Hotmail Issues
I am aware of the continuing issues with hotmail. Currently they are flagging all mail coming from our servers as dangerous spam and deleting it before it gets to your inboxes. I do have a line of communication open with them and we are working to resolve this as quickly as possible. But I am not sure if or when they will start accepting InsaneJournal email. Until then I would suggest that you do not use a hotmail account for your email with InsaneJournal.

UPDATE: I just heard back from Microsoft and they are saying that users should start receiving our emails in the next 24-48 hours. And after that the system will be retrained on our emails so they should not get blocked in the future.

The reason I don't like g-mail, is their notifier makes my computer do funny things, and I can't have a window open to it all the time, also, I don't use G-talk. Hotmail, since I have MSN Messenger on all the time, it pops right up when the email comes in. It's simply convenience.

Do I need my notifications immediately like that? No. Not usually. But it's very nice to have.

(Please note: I work from home, and not at an office, so YMMV)

Totally understandable from that POV. My office doesn't let me use messenger, and I don't really worry about instant notification, but everyone's got different priorities.

(I was mostly referring to the suggestion yesterday that people get a gmail and forward it to their hotmail address. I do think gmail is a pretty painless forwarding service, and I've got a gmail that exists entirely for archiving stuff while the mails get sent on to me and I reply to them from another account, but I realize not everyone wants to use gmail even as a forward.)
