More servers coming

With the issues continuing at the other sites we are seeing another surge in site usage. To combat this, I have just ordered another database server and another web server. Its going to take me awhile to get the new servers up and running, so please bear with us over the next day or two if the site is slow during the peak evening hours.

Edit: The new webserver is online. Still working on the database. It will take awhile because we are building it out as a new user cluster. And we are going to migrate 33% of the current users over to it.

Also, to help offset the costs we are incurring in getting these new servers set up, we are going to hold another Insane Userpics sale. We will be offering Insane Userpics. We are going to be offering this item at a higher price than the last time it was available. For the next 2 weeks, this item will be available for $150. This will give you 5,000 userpics for the life of your account.

This item will be on sale for only 2 weeks, and this is the last time in the foreseeable future that we are going to offer this item.
  • Well I doubt that Im the only user that has this setting for their browser default/home page so I figured that if it was a problem that I could at least (along with others?) reduce the problem. Thanks for letting me know though.

Soon you and insanity will have to move out to make room for the amount of servers you need.
    • Heh, good thing we don't keep them at home! They are actually at a facility far far away from hurricanes and warm weather where we live.
      • Heheh. A hurricane hitting your house would be ironic.

        Squeaky, what happened to IJ?"

Squeaky: It was blown away, hurricane.

"Oh come on now. Dont be making such excuses. Next thing you will say is that the dog ate it."

        :-D

    • Oh no! A massive DDoS attack from too many home pages set to IJ! Squeaky - we need more servers, stat!

If it was that easy to bring most websites down people would work together all the time to do it in just that fashion. Firefox does have some settings that can do some serious damage if thousands of people elect to use those settings at once, but most Firefox users know that and still you don't hear too much about such things.
