Okay,

We shut off the new server as I found that there were some incompatibilities with different versions of the libraries that were causing problems. We are going to work over the next day or two to fix these and get the new server up and running. For now, we figure that a site that is running a little slow during peak times is better than one with errors all over the place. Please report any errors you are still seeing in this post.

Thanks!
  • I just want to drop a comment and say THANK YOU for keeping us all informed about what's going on. The primary issue that a lot of people are having with GJ right now is that we don't know what's going on -- whereas, if there's an issue, you're solving it almost immediately, you're updating to let your users know what's going on, AND you're responding to comments you receive, keeping repeated questions (and angry demands) to a minimum. In the end, it makes the InsaneJournal community a much kinder, gentler environment, because there aren't irate users going NUTS when they don't know what's happening and they think it's a huge conspiracy, or they're demanding to be told what's happening----only to get absolutely no response (not just a response that isn't timely, but no response whatsoever.. unless the response is "leave us alone" kind of snark). You've been welcoming, accommodating, and friendly to GJ "refugees", you've upped the friend limit for free users ... I'm a hundred times happier dealing with any issues IJ might have because you're informative and responsive----so instead of being angry with the site being slow for any reason, my response is THANK YOU for your hard work, good luck with getting things up and running, and I'm more than happy to deal with slowness ----totally understandable in times like this. :)

    You're nothing short of phenomenal!
    • AGREED. It is beyond cool that you communicate with your users instead of leaving them in the dark and hoping they dont get too ticked when things go awry (*COUGHgjCOUGH*)

      THANK YOU!!! :D
    • Not just GJ refugees, but the recent influix of LJ refugees (again) too.}:P
      • Every time I see mention of refugees, it reminds me of the incredibly corny "I don't want you to think of yourselves as refugees. A refugee doesn't have a home, and I want this to be your home." (From the original strikethrough migration.) It's the sort of thing cynical people like me should roll their eyes at, but it still makes me feel warm and squiffy inside.
      • The only reason I stick to LJ is with my personal journal because my friends are there but I refuse to rp there anymore...I can't deal with only 15 icons haha. So oldschool...
        • My paid account there runs out Jan 23rd. It won't be renewed, but I won't delete the journal so I can keep up with the friends who don't leave.
    • You're very very welcome. We are thrilled to have you here. We do our best to keep everyone updated in a timely manner. Everyone knows sites will have glitches, but as long as you are upfront and honest about it, people are generally forgiving.
    • I can only agree with you on all aspects! [info]squeaky and IJ for the win! :)
