Another Welcome (and a sale!)
I see we have had another influx of new users here at InsaneJournal. It appears that a lot of you aren't very happy with the announcement over at our competition. I do have to thank all of you, a number of you have already taken advantage of our low cost upgraded accounts, and we really and truly do appreciate your generosity.
I do want to take the time to let you know that InsaneJournal has not ever been in talks with anyone to purchase the site, nor do we foresee there being any interest from either myself or any outside party to acquire this site. I have been running InsaneJournal for the past 6 years and love this site and respect all of our users.
I am going to also take this space to announce that starting today. We are going to be having a week long christmas sale. Until next monday we will be offering Permanently Insane accounts for $35, and we will be offering 12 month Self-Committed[paid] accounts for only $15. Head over to the Insane Journal Store and buy yourself or a friend an upgraded account.
Thank you for supporting InsaneJournal and helping for this community to grow and flourish.

Thanks for making this a week long, I'm hoping to get either a Self-Committed or Perm account for Christmas, if possible.
Ah well.}:P It's money well spent, I say!
I'm also curious; is there any place on the site I can see statistics for signups and site use over the past year? Is there anything publically accessible?
A lot of folks are worried their online communities will fall apart; I hope they realize that they are the communities, not Livejournal.
An example of how hideous LJ is: after the sale was announced, the founder, Brad, sneered at us, saying customer panic was going to be "fun to watch." And now 6A is throwing a party. *boggles*
The way you communicate with your users, you're upfront and open about what's going on, you're responsive to questions without being condescending or rude or just not saying anything at all... Those are just a few of the reasons why I took advantage of your Black Friday sale and purchased a permanent account for myself as well as buying time for a few friends who also migrated to IJ.
Thank you for providing and excellent service and for genuinely caring about us and how your site is run. You're greatly appreciated! :)
I hope you want us. ;)
I'm really digging IJ and have been pimping the hell out of it to my friends.
The people at LJ never do that, so it's great. :]
I want to be a complete convert, but there are still some things that I'm like, "well, LJ does them better." None of which have to do with handling customer problems ^_- but I mean technical things.
Do you (or whoever is your techie folk) update the codebase to reasonably keep pace with LJ's, continually work on bugs, etc.? Obviously you don't want to pick up the new "content flagging" business (do you have, like, branches from a trunk, like with Firefox? I've never quite got a good picture of how the open source development is for the Livejournal code and its clones), but, for example, post tracking has never worked for me on IJ. I don't get any notifications. A few friends on LJ have noted this as well. And I wondered if it's because it's never been worked out, or there's something else going on.
I don't think the main site scheme is as featureful and easy to use as what-all LJ has (take with grain of salt -- I hate Horizon and Vertigo and am still sticking with XColibur!), either, although that sort of thing (specific styles) may be proprietary and thus non-portable?
Also, I would really, really miss ScrapBook, which saves me so much trouble with uploading pictures to my own website so as to post them.
Anyway, it's like, I want to support, but my socks are not yet sufficiently thrilled from my person to make me go "yeah, yeah, I totally want to whip out my PayPal account for this." Yanno?
I bought two permanent accounts here in the Black Friday sale, figuring it was just a Good Idea. Then more nonsense happens "over there" (o/` ...until it's over over there... o/`) and tonight on IRC I mentioned the current mess there and the sale here. I get asked what the prices are here and give the answer. A few minutes later you have two more permanent account holders. Even those that aren't moving in just now want to at least reserve a space to move into.
Honest and open = customer love
Another interesting thing I noticed is that you actually respond to comments! How refreshing! I find it heartening that a company will actually care enough about its customers to provide personal feedback.
I'm recommending my "competition" friends head over here to check things out. Thanks for having the good sense to recognize that we, as bloggers and customers, deserve better.
Thanks for the new sale! I just upgraded to a permanent account and while I was at it bought another one for a dear friend. Here's to many happy years to come on IJ! (cause let's face it...I'm just not willing to send my money to the Russians over at the other place!).
Although, I am wondering if IJ will soon give users the option of editing their comments? I know the OTHER PLACE is doing that, and right now, that's the only real upside they have....
Happy to be here :D

Been thinking about moving over here instead for a while; now I'm only wishing I'd done it sooner.
