  • exactly. it'd be completely worth it. squeaky are you listening brah.
    • i'm sure it can't be that hard to transfer, either, and i know it would bring in a lot of extra money for the site because we're not the first two to complain about perms going to waste.
      • well i thought i have seen people in here have normal paid times transferred, or maybe read about it in the faq? i'm not completely versed in journals here so i am not sure, but you're exactly right. it would bring a lot of extra money to the site and i can't see it being that much extra effort if they transfer normal paid time.
        • nah briankenney or whoever is right, he only transfers paid time if you buy a permanent on top of it, but i get what you're saying. i don't see why you can't pay to have the whole permanent status transferred. i've had to delete a few permanent journals in the past just because i don't want to rename them and i don't use them anymore. it sucks
          • that blows. all that money for nothing.
            • how was it a waste, though? i assume you used the permanent features for a while... if you got it on sale and used it for over a year, you pretty much made back your investment in terms of what you would have had to pay for a paid account for that amount of time. how much money would you be willing to pay to transfer the permanent status? because if squeaky did it for one person, he'd have 234234234 people asking him to do it, which would be a pain in the ass and probably not what he needs to focus on when the site is still having some technical issues. i can kind of see doing it for $20+ or something but if i were an admin that would be way more trouble than it was worth for $5 or something, given that he would immediately get like 1000 requests to do it for $5.
              • it is a waste now because i am not using it. i'm not blaming him, it's my own fault for not renaming it sooner, i'm just saying it is something paid for sitting there unused - it is a waste. rather than a support request though it would be a pretty clever feature if possible, lj used to charge 15 for renames and they would get that price, so i don't think $20 or even $25 would be that outrageous. it'd be a really simple way to make money for the site as well, to help fix those technical issues.
                • oh okay, i thought you meant for like $5 or something, which i'd have to think would be too cheap for the hassle it would be worth for 23423 people doing it. $20 or $25 might be some good income though!
                  • oh no, definitely not. $5 people would probably take total advantage, but at a higher price it'd discourage that while still making a pretty good profit :)
                    • yeah, i think that's worth squeaky looking into!
          • idg how that's squeaky's fault, though? no one's ever been able to transfer permanent account status, there was no expectation of that. if you don't want to commit to a single name forever then just buy paid time... paid accounts bring way more revenue than permanent accounts
