The last semester DEFINITELY fits the bill. History and social studies are where it's going to be a big issue. I was lucky enough to be a boy, so they didn't skimp on math and science anyway. Probably fudged some contributions. Like I know who Rosalind Franklin and Marie Curie were because I managed to get my hands on an older book and not a reprint from After, but... Literature is also probably hit or miss, and the other arts. Literally got a good half of the story pulled away there. Jane Austen was allowed but DEFINITELY no Bronte sisters or Emily Dickinson.
We've been slowly relearning about these people in the months since the Court's downfall, as stuff's been allowed to come back in. Mayor Gordon was a librarian so she had some idea of stuff, but... I've definitely missed a ton and I think senior year might need to happen again. Not a HUGE deal in the scheme of things, since, hey, another year standing between me and this world I have no idea how to navigate yet. I mean I'm not afraid but...overwhelmed, maybe?
He did for a long time. I think if we hadn't been isolated from a lot of the consequences, and away from the city where it was the worst, it would have gone a LOT harder. And that's...I get that completely. I'm pretty aware we didn't exactly have fans, as a family. It'd be nice to reclaim a little of that. I've been taking steps.
It really IS the sort of thing you have to hear about to believe so that'd be okay. Honestly, I don't think you could make up half of the Handmaid's Tale shit the girls and women got stuck dealing with. Processing might help now that I'm out.
