Crêpes with Terrorism Sauce
Inspired by That One Scene, of course.
Before destroying Shibuya:
Crêpes
1.5 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1/8 tablespoon salt
1.75 cups milk
2 large eggs, well beaten
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 tablespoon softened butter, for frying
Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Whisk milk in slowly, then eggs, then melted butter, until smooth. Cover and chill 30 minutes.
Heat 8-inch crêpe pan or nonstick skillet over medium flame until water drops bounce on its surface. Dab a paper towel into softened butter and wipe gently onto pan. Ladle 1/4 cup batter into pan, swirl to coat the bottom evenly, and cook until bottom is set and top looks dry. Lift edge with a knife, flip carefully, and cook until other side is golden. Remove to plate and cover with a paper towel while making the rest of the crêpes (stir the batter frequently).
Filling
2/3 cup heavy cream
1 cup mascarpone cheese
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons sugar
Strawberries (sliced if fresh, thawed and drained if frozen)
Whip cream, mascarpone, vanilla, and sugar in a bowl until soft peaks are formed. Spread thickly across the center of each crêpe, add some strawberries, and fold the sides over.
Standard Terrorism Sauce
6 oz. chopped bittersweet chocolate
1.5 teaspoons powdered ginger
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon Grand Marnier, Cointreau, or cognac
Place chocolate in a heatproof bowl, sprinkle ginger over, and set aside.
Heat cream and butter in a saucepan over medium heat just to the point of boiling, pour immediately over chocolate and let stand for a bit, then add liqueur and whisk gently until smooth. Drizzle generously over filled crêpes and serve with a dusting of powdered sugar.
After destroying Shibuya:
Prepare crêpes as above. Fill with strawberries only and fold in quarters so they can't escape.
Apocalyptic Terrorism Sauce
5 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup sugar
Juice and 1 tsp zest from 1 orange
Juice and 1 tsp zest from 1 lemon
2 tablespoons Grand Marnier or Cointreau (or one of each)
2 tablespoons brandy
Combine butter and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat and stir until sugar is completely dissolved. Combine orange and lemon juices in a small skillet over medium heat (adjust ratios for desired sweetness), add butter mixture, and heat while stirring until sauce appears clear. Add Grand Marnier/Cointreau and stir well.
Drag each filled crêpe through skillet and remove to a shallow bowl or other rimmed serving plate. Drizzle lightly with Standard Terrorism Sauce, if desired.
Add brandy gently to remaining sauce in skillet until just warmed through, and pour this over crêpes. Ignite and serve flaming. Have some ice cream.
