Meeting this morning for the last time before Minister Wilde's retirement, the Wizengamot passed a piece of legislation that will make Muggleborn registration with the Ministry mandatory. Under the bill created by the Minister's senior undersecretary, Lyle Marchwood, and approved by the Minister, Otis Wilde, the registration will take place at the very moment of the birth of any muggleborn witch and wizard. Indeed, the bill uses the Hogwarts' registry, making it compulsory for school authorities to report each muggleborn child to the Ministry. With this last piece of legislation before his retirement, planned for Monday, Minister Wilde is sure not to be forgotten. On the topic of Minister Wilde's retirement, no suitable replacement Minister for Magic or cabinet have been appointed or put to vote by the Ministry since Millicent Bagnold's murder on March 28. Otis Wilde has refused to postpone his retirement. Earlier today, the Muggle government reached an agreement with Spain to re-open the Spain-Gibraltar border, closed since June 1969. Their wizarding counterparts signed a similar agreement to the effect that all wizarding business trafficking goods and escorting Muggles would be dismantled by the time the borders were efficiently re-opened. The Gibraltar wizarding community, who has taken great profit from the illegal commerce with the Muggles, protested the agreement. |
