The thought had occurred to James, but he hadn't wanted to think about it. Now, though, he evidently had no choice but to address it.
"Yeah, probably. Guess I won't be going out with you on full moons anymore," James said softly. Then, resolutely, "Which means you have to remember Sirius, and trust him again, because now Padfoot is the only one who can safely go with you."
It pained him. He'd worked so hard to be able to help his friend, and he'd do just about anything before he watched Remus tear himself apart in containment every full moon like he used to at school. It wasn't fair to have to go through that.
