The Black & Malfoy Wedding What: The Black and Malfoy Wedding Where:Leeds Castle in Kent When: Satuday the 13th of June, beginning in the afternoon, posted one day early Who: Narcissa Black and Lucius Malfoy, all of their family, friends, and assorted dates Rating: PG13? E for Extravagant? L for Looooooove? Status: OOC Log, in progress
The day began for Narcissa with breakfast in bed with her sister (no boys allowed), whom she'd decided to forgive if only in the interests of having a perfect, perfect wedding. Around eleven, she would have expected Alecto, Rosalind, and Florence to arrive, because even if Florence is playing at the wedding and not technically a bridesmaid, she is part of the wedding party. They all then went to Leeds Castle.
Then it was a few hours of getting ready, chatting, giggling (likely except for Bellatrix there, since I can't quite imagine her giggling), and extraoridnary pampering. She then presented the girls with their dresses--Florence too--which were all the same for the three bridesmaids. Bellatrix, however, had a slightly darker colour of blue with a slightly different style for her dress, photos to follow, than the other three.
Veronica would have been expected to organize and oversee, despite a rather fantastic fight the two girls had the day before which resulted in Veronica commiserating with the caterers about Narcissa's terrible attitude. She also slipped up and mentioned pregnancy hormones. That particular waiter went straight to the press, and the Saturday morning paper (the day of the wedding, of course) featured the headline Black Pregnant: Shotgun Wedding Today!. Bellatrix hid the paper from Cissa and warned anyone off of mentioning it to her.
As the girls--Narcissa, Bellatrix, Rosalind, and Veronica only, as Florence would be out playing for the arriving guests--were relaxing in the dressing room directly before the ceremony, someone slipped the article from the paper under the dressing room door.
Narcissa immediately freaks out and swears it was Sirius, confiding in Bellatrix that she ran into him but in her anger failing to mention she told him rather than he somehow figured it out.
The ceremony, which was due to begin at 3:00pm, was nearly an hour late while Narcissa attempts to calm down and glamour her red eyes away. She considered calling off the wedding or postponing, but decided that wouldn't solve anything and allowed her big sister to talk her back into remembering a Black can get away with anything so long as she does it with the knowledge that she is above the rules.
She went out with her head held high and let it go as best she could.
She approached the outdoor ceremony in the circular courtyard by boat on the river, meeting Regulus at the shore and having him walk her down the aisle. The scene was set with peacocks milling around, a cool breeze in the air, and the sun high in the sky on a perfect day for Narcissa's determinedly perfect wedding.
The ceremony was short, followed by appies and drinks while people mingled (at which time Narcissa disappeared to talk with Lucius about the article in the paper), and dinner was served promptly at six.
Following that was dancing and visiting, which Narcissa enjoyed, and if anyone stupid enough to comment about her pregnancy, she promptly dismissed them with a flippant comment and dispatched them in Bellatrix's direction if necessary.
The wedding couple retired shortly before 10:00pm to the beautiful bridal suite in a private section of the castle to enjoy their wedding night in private. She had an intricate piece of bridal lingerie just for him, and presumably both of them promptly forgot about any scandal but the one they were currently partaking in.
Narcissa's dress, hair, shoes, and bouquet.
Top left: Alecto, Rosalind, and Florence's dress. Bottom Left: Bellatrix's dress. Each bridesmaid carried a single white lily, the cake was a four-tiered affair with white roses, and Lucius wore a blue morning suit with a peacock feather pin.
Appetizers were served on platters by servers who moved through the crowd and included (clockwise): bruschetta, egg and caviar, lamb on cucumber, smoked salmon, champagne, and fruit tarts.
Once seated, salad and shrimp was served first, then guests could choose between a lobster entree or a filet mignon entree, served on silver platters.
The cake being just for show and for the tradition of cutting it together, there was also dessert served. Guests could choose between chocolate mousse, vanilla berry torte, poached pear, and peach pastry.
Leeds Castle is an island castle with a circular centre courtyard. The outdoor courtyard is where the wedding was held. Guests were welcome inside as well, of course, as the entire island was rented for the wedding.
Please comment with your character's reaction to the paper, their behaviour at the wedding, their gift if you'd like, any particular interactions they might have had with the wedding couple or other guests, and if they did anything of note while there. Please don't hesitate to go into detail or to write logs if you'd like. I'm just doing it this way because I'll be gone from now until Sunday.
