Remus smiled at his friends. They meant the world to him and their concern and support merely strengthened his resolve to stay with them, no matter what. No matter how hard things got.
"Thanks," he said, looking up at Sirius. He didn't want to be alone right now, even if he was just going to sleep.
Pushing himself up off the couch, he moved first to James and while he felt terribly guilty for what he had done last night, he hugged James. "Thanks, mate," he said softly before releasing him. "For being here and, you know, for everything really."
He turned to Peter next and his smile softened. Peter who had tried so hard to keep things together when the Order had started poking their noses in. He hugged Peter too, feeling rather sentimental and blamed it on his exhaustion. "Thanks, Pete. I know you tried your best to keep these two in line, but a herd of rampaging hippogriffs couldn't stop them when they get an idea in their heads."
And that left Sirius. Remus was rather uncertain about the whole 'thing' that was now between them after what James had revealed but he couldn't not hug him, not when he was dying for it. Moving closer, he wrapped his arms around Sirius and closed his eyes, holding him in silence for a moment before whispering, "Thanks, Pads. I'm glad you're here."
He held onto Sirius for a little longer than he had the other two, savouring the feeling of Sirius' arms around him, and then reluctantly pulled away. "I need to go to bed before I fall over," he said ruefully as he headed for the bedroom, leaving James and Peter to go back to their lives and Sirius to whatever he had to keep him occupied.
Disappearing into his bedroom, Remus fell into bed with his clothes on, beyond caring at that point. His body was still aching from the change and his eyes closed, asleep practically before his head even hit the pillow.
