Alice didn't let his words bother her. It wasn't the first time she'd been insulted, and it wouldn't be the last. Dark wizards didn't take it well when they were captured or injured, in her experience. She moved out from behind her cover, trying to get a good idea of the damage she'd done. That was her mistake. The spells weren't aimed well at all, and dodging wasn't hard, but the crucio hit her injured leg as she dove back behind the ruined couch.
She screamed as the pain shuddered through her body, but it wasn't nearly as intense as a sustained cruciatus would have been, and the pain was gone in moments, except for a throbbing in her leg. Gritting her teeth, she sent a diffindo, hoping the charm would catch his free arm, and followed it with another stupefy.
"Miss Alice?" Alice turned her head at the sound of Curtis's voice. She cursed herself mentally for not having sent the boy to another room or outdoors when the attacker had arrived. She had no idea how terrified he must have been, and likely her screams had drawn him out.
