MUGGLE RIGHTS ACTIVIST CAUSES MORE CONSTROVERSY
Ashwyn Tripplehorn - DP London
LONDON - Leader of the Society for the Promotion of Muggleborn Welfare, Hortense Clay, caused a commotion in Diagon Alley early this morning by holding a unscheduled protest of new legislation passed yesterday by the Ministry of Magic. The young woman accosted early morning shoppers with pamphlets as she announced the "dangers" of the bill, which she described numerous times as the "beginning of the end." She was taken into custody by Ministry officials after she began putting up posters on the outside of businesses that attempted to slander Minister for Magic Rodolphus Lestrange.
Vice-President of the [SPMW], Van Lewis, contacted the Daily Prophet and made the following statement: "Members of the [SPMW] are in no way affiliated with Ms Clay's actions this morning. The pamphlets and posters were made without our knowledge, and the protest itself was called on the spur of the moment. As no one showed up except Ms Clay, I believe that this well showcases the beliefs of the majority of the [SPMW] where this new legislation is concerned. We would also like to state for the record that Ms Clay's behavior and accusatory, unsupported statements during her interview on the WWN last week do not and should not represent our organization as a whole."
The recently passed legislation further regulates the lives and actions of of half-human members of the magical community, particularly werewolves. It's intent was to help put a stop to recent outbursts of violent behavior from dark creatures in the last six months. The bill itself will be passed through the Department of Magical Law Enforcement before it is put into effect by Hitwizards and the Auror Department.
