"I don't know. Might be worth putting who did it and why on the back burner for now to figure out how serious it is. If You Know Who has something in the works at the Ministry, we really ought to figure out what," James said, and though he knew there were a few of Dumbledore's men about the place, this was easier said than done. It really would come in handy to have a source.
While James didn't notice Fabian's tendency to stand off to the side, exactly, he did notice that the man sometimes seemed slightly withdrawn around all the couples, and he shot the man a warm grin. He liked Fabian. He thought he probably would've been a lot more like Fabian if Lily had continued turning him down. There had been a lot of commonalities in how they were raised, after all, as well, of course, as a number of differences. Enough, though, that James could see where Fabian was coming from most days.
"While it helps, I don't think Frank keeping an eye out is going to be nearly enough," James said.
He had a number of ideas, but they were all slightly outlandish, and he was grown up enough now to recognize that. A few of them involved the Unspeakables, which was impossible, and one involved two of the three unforgivables. Obviously that one was out too. Any remaining plans fluttering around his head were half-formed and quickly abandoned. Frowning, Jamse just shrugged.
"I'm not sure what to suggest. Do we have any more information? Can I see the message?"
