Fabian barely got a moment to mumble a "Yeah, I s'pose," before - speak of the devil - both James and Lily appeared with a pop! And then he didn't know whether to laugh or be absolutely mortified at how James looked (and Lily too, but Fabian supposed it was difficult to not gain weight when you were pregnant). Apronned and floured, Fabian was really leaning toward mortification. He hadn't known James well before he'd been married. But that man was younger than himself and about to be a father. And soon(ish) by the looks of Lily. Fabian just barely kept from shaking his head in disapproval.
"Cheers, James. Lily," he greeted with a theatrical eye roll. And then glanced at his watch. "Yeah, Gideon's been stuck at work late every day this week. I'll catch him up."
He'd never thought he'd be glad to hear that Calypso was home. But Ed wasn't that far off with his crack about being eaten. He'd barely had time for lunch today. "Excellent. Is there going to be scotch too? Please say yes, Ed," he asked and then gave appropriate puppy eyes.
