"Nothing major since Crouch authorized use of the Unforgivables," Alice replied to James. That hadn't been a very public announcement at first, but word spread as more and more Aurors took advantage of the new policy. But as much as she'd hated that change, it hadn't been entirely unexpected.
She nodded as Lily and Edgar spoke. Moody was at the Ministry right now. She and Frank had seen him and spoken to him briefly this morning. If only she'd known then that they'd be meeting... but Moody disappearing during the day would only arouse suspicion. "I'll relay everything to Frank tonight, and we can contact Moody about it." Besides, the MLE had been searching for assignments to keep her out of the line of fire. If Moody could find a legitimate reason for her to be in Wilde's office, they could kill two birds with one stone.
"We can't take chances," Alice agreed with Fabian. Most of the people in the Ministry, those in key positions, anyway, did not seem to like the Order. They wouldn't admit it openly, at least. And they couldn't risk recruiting someone who had other, higher allegiances. "Moody ought to get to Crouch without raising suspicion. And we can't guarantee getting into Wilde's office. I'll leave that to Moody." It was all they could do. If the Order was revealed, now, it could undo all the good they had done in the past several years.
