Christian Meadowes was not a particularly stupid man, Leoben discovered. His home was nearly impenetrable, which tended to complicate things. Trying to strip the wards would raise alarms and take too much time. And so, a slight change of plans. Into the evening, Leoben hadn't even bothered to take his Death Eater robes with him. It wouldn't matter. This part would be quick. There was no need to draw attention to himself. He was a well-rehearsed businessman as far as anyone on Diagon Alley knew. He was following Mr Meadowes now, twenty feet behind, eyes boring into the back of the man's head as he weaved through the crowd. To prying eyes, he was nothing but a man in a bit of a hurry. His intentions were for more malevolent. Christian Meadowes disappeared into Eyelops. Ben walked past, turning a corner and then turning around, lurking in the corner, invisible in all but the most literal sense. It didn't take long. As soon as Leoben saw Christian leave the store, he - quite purposely - bumped into him. "Apologies," he breathed, reaching over as if to brush off Mr Meadowes. Instead, there was a low pop. The stables appeared, so familiar, so used these past few months. Ben moved quickly, stunning Christian before he had time to react. Binding him to the table was a quick, practised affair, as was stripping him above the waist. "Crucio," Ben said, almost gently. On the table, Christian Meadowes writhed and started awake and screamed against the ropes. Leoben held it and held, letting the seconds give way to minutes, until finally he let the curse go, letting Mr Meadowes pant and whimper on the table. Leoben sighed and stood near his head. "No one can hear you, Mr Meadowes. You are entirely alone. Do not worry. I will give you the chance to ask your sister why before I dispose of you." Leoben smirked and silenced Christian for the night. There were other things to tend to. Mr Meadowes could stew alone. It wasn't as if he'd be disturbed, after all. |
