Gabrielle didn’t know how to respond. They were definitely at an impasse. Sighing, she waved her hand dismissively.
Laughing, Gabrielle nodded. “We are cursed in zhat way, non?” It was not egotistical to recognize reality, right?
“Je veux un enfant maintenant! Pas après que je reçois un diplôme!” Gabrielle looked upset now as much as angry. I want a child now! Not after I graduate! She looked at her sister almost pleadingly.
Gabrielle shrugged. “You marked her. You must…respond to her much,” Gabrielle said. The problem was that she hadn’t marked a man. To play with girls was one thing, a thing not uncommon to Veela and a thing Gabrielle had no problem with. Veela marked their mates. A female mate couldn’t give a child; it was taboo.
Sighing happily as Fleur gave her more room, Gabrielle kept nuzzling her neck. Tracing long lines with her nose, she shivered as Fleur told her they would always be together.
“I-I am not jealous,” Gabrielle said softly, obviously lying. She swallowed hard. “Maybe I am a little. I just…want you to be loved and respected as I love and respect you,” she explained. “And for nothing to change with us…”
Her grip on Fleur’s wrists remained tight as Gabrielle kept her pinned to the bed.
