Katie smiled. “Thanks.” She wasn’t totally convinced, but she did think that she had a really good chance of getting one of the spots. Of course she wanted to be the starter, but she wasn’t going to scoff at being a secondary.
“You think?” Katie giggled, unable to keep herself from thinking back to Megs having to clean up after her and hold her hair back while she was sick. Rubbing her back to comfort her. How could she have risked screwing up a friendship like that for a fling?
Katie shrugged sheepishly. “Well, I remember enough. But, as for talking to Ginny…” She shrugged again. “I really don’t know what to say. I am…kinda confused about the whole thing, actually.”
“I meant emotionally.” Katie went back to looking at her shoes. “Looking back, I treated her like Alicia used to treat me sometimes. I didn’t think that it was the same, but now I don’t know.”
“Plus, she is really too young for me,” she admitted with some degree of sadness. taking her glasses off, she tucked them away and rubbed her eyes in frustration.
