Daphne shrugged. “So you believe.” Of course it was true. It would be true in the future. At the very least, there were appearances to think about. Being at all friendly with the Girl Who Lived would do very little for her social standing. Instead of full disclosure, it was easier just to turn it back around on Harriet.
Watching Harriet undress, Daphne was careful to school her features perfectly. Potter had her attention and her gaze did not wander away from the other girl. However, she did not leer or drool. There was a perfect balance between interest and disinterest. It would give Potter practically nothing to ponder when considering Daphne’s motives.
“A pain? What do you mean?” Daphne asked. She actually wasn’t sure what Potter was playing at. So, she would just need to wait and see. She just hoped the pause in Potter’s stripping down did not last too long…
