Elly blushed. She wasn’t used to sincere compliments. She was used to drunk boys trying to be nice to snog her at parties or the left handed compliments of catty girls. Of course, there was always the drunk girls at parties looking for a snog too. Though, she usually found that it was their boyfriends that wanted them to more than they wanted to. “Thanks.” She smiled a bit shyly, unsure how else to respond.
“Well, nothing wrong with odd,” Elly assured her, an odd duck herself. Of course, not always the most secure, Elly battled with be proud and ashamed of her oddness. “If they don’t like it…” She shrugged. “They can sod off, right?”
“Sounds great.” Elly usually kept to herself the few holidays she spent at Hogwarts, or spent them with her usual gang. It would be fun to make a new friend. Were Hannah and her on their way to being friends?
She looked at the blonde, regarding her for a moment. It was funny that Hannah was older too and would be leaving Hogwarts before her. Why couldn’t she make any friends her own age?
“I love The Beatles too!” Elly exclaimed happily. “I like Eddie and the Fey. I like a few of the Weird Sisters songs, though I think they are pretty overrated. I like some punk…” She wrinkled her nose. “Hip hop…really isn’t my speed,” she admitted with a chuckle.
Playfully, she checked Hannah lightly with her hip where they sat. Elly could get a little goofy when she was in the mood. And, things were going well so far causing her to lighten up a little.
